1. Oh, it goes to the Foreign Relations Committee
I would have thought it would have gone to Armed Services. That seems odd. On the other hand, there are two members of the Foreign Relations Committee as co-sponsors, Boxer and Kerry, so that might help to actually get it some quick action.

2. Excellent! Any idea when they might act on this? Would that be
today or after the escalation speech tonight?

Shrub can send the troops in and this bill would be moot.
Go to cspan.org They have Kennedy's entire address to view there. It is well worth watching. Ted was awesome.

5. And they are claiming that their hands are tied and its a Constitutional issue but
there is precedence. The Congress ended the Vietnam War by cutting off funding and the same thing for Lebanon.

14. Does cutting the funding remove money that is already appropriated?
I don't think so, and that is the rub.

Bush will use money already in the pipeline as he pleases.

7. That was a very good speech.
And I'm glad to see these Senators co-sponsoring.

Send them all some love. The RWers will activiate their mailing lists and crank up the hate mail. It would be nice to have some 'love' coming in to from the liberal blogs.

11. It's sad it's been so rare in recent years to hear someone tell
the truth, and so eloquently. I understand your tears. I was jazzed that he was getting out there.
We so need more like Senator Kennedy. Where did all the honorable politicians go?

12. Ted was perfect yesterday. Too bad the Dem leaders will try and downplay his points.
It's happening already with their 'symbolic' vote ploy. Just like they did when Kerry-Feingold withdrawal plan vote came up and so Dem leaders countered with a non-binding resolution about withdrawal that had ZERO MEANING.

17. Hurray for Vermont senators!
and let me tell you we would've been all over anyone from here who tried any of that symbolic crap on us. They'd never be able to set foot outside of their Washington DC offices again.
