"When the president goes before the people on Wednesday, he is basically saying, trust me."
Josh Marshall at talkingpointsmemo.com gets it right.

There is no logical, acceptable explanation for Bush to go forward with 'the surge.'
His only card left to play is the 'trust me' card.

I think the last election results show just how powerful that card is today.

The people are against it, the Pentagon brass are against it, the troops on the ground are against it, the Congress is against it, and all Bush can say is 'trust me.'

Give me a break.

1. "Trust me". With Bush, it's another way of saying "Fuck you".

4. I just hope we stick to our guns.
Bush’s writers could make a compelling case for a surge.

We have to remember, WE CAN’T BE FOOLED AGAIN!! :headbang:

6. How do you think the about to be deployed troops feel?
They know they are not going to change anything on the ground in Iraq. They are leaving home and family, many for the second and third trip over there, knowing that they will be sitting targets.

How Bush can send these soldiers to risk their lives for basically nothing.

It is beyond outrageous.

8. That is one worn-out card. He's been playing it for quite
awhile.

Somebody should have confiscated it from him by now.

9. The man is dillusional, there is no trust after he has proven to be such a liar and failure
The only thing in Bush's life he has succeeded at was avoiding going to Viet Nam and accepting the presidency after it was arranged for his placement.

Bush's approval rating for handling the War is at 16% by the USA/Gallup poll.
