On Hardball just now: Gordon Smith meets with W at WH and will not support surge
Tweety just said he was slipped a note about this during the last commercial break. Smith is R-Oregaon Senator.

3. but how is his position any different from say Clinton, Kerry or Edwards
who all say that they are now sorry they voted for the Iraqi Resolution--knowing what they know today.

Its about #s in the Senate. It would be LOVELY to pass 60 seats, now wouldnt it???

4. He's been a loyal Rove tool for ten years
but now feels the political wind in his face so he is quickly repositioning himself. Remember, he voted for conviction of Clinton after the impeachment and also wanted "up-or-down" votes for Bushco's appointees after using every trick in the book to block Clinton's picks. He should resign now and save us the trouble of kicking him out.
