So Bush is Captain Queeg now -- no more doubts about it...
What will the "strawberry" moment be for his final fall from "leadership?"

1. Yeah, but Bogart
who played Queeg still had his dignity and humanity afterwards.

6. And Queeg was a war veteran who had seen too much action, had lost his
nerve, and had gone nuts. He was a tragic figure. Bush is just a cowardly laughable buffoon and failure. I remember that powerful scene at the end of the film when Mel Ferrer threw the glass of champagne into the face of Fred MacMurray.

"When I was studying law, and
Mr keefer was writing his stories, -
- and willie was tearing up
the playing fields of Princeton, -
- who was standing guard
over this country of ours?
Not us. we knew you couldn't
make any money in the service.
Who did the dirty work for us?
Queeg did, and a lot of other guys.
Tough guys who didn't crack up like
Queeg."

"Queeg endangered the lives of the men."

"He didn't endanger any lives.
You did. A fine bunch of officers."

"You said yourself he cracked."

"That's a very pretty point. I left
out one detail in court.
It wouldn't have helped our case.
At one point, Queeg came to you
for help, and you turned him down."

Yes, we did."

11. True -- Bush has *zero* past history of "heroics"
and will never, ever get them now -- no matter how hard he tries to "best" daddy...

3. What will be his strawberry moment? What a difficult question.
I'm personally hoping it'll be in the State of the Union so that it will be very soon, perhaps sometime very soon afterwards. One can only hope it is something eloquent and poetic, yet somehow I suspect in a truly Bush-esque fashion he will butt heads with the Dem's, see the polls aren't in his favor and quit sometime in March to give the reigns to the great hunter.

7. At least Captain Queeg based his "strawberry moment" on a prior accomplishment
<snip>
Another episode which highlights Queeg's behaviors occurs when a quart of strawberries go missing from the wardroom icebox. Remembering how he helped solve a mystery involving a similar theft when he was an ensign earlier in his career, Queeg attempts to recreate his former accomplishment by insisting the strawberries were pilfered by a crewmember with a duplicate key. Queeg orders every key on the ship collected, and a thorough search made.

I'm at a loss to think of ANY positive accomplishment in Georgie's past. He was a proven failure who is fulfilling his loser destiny.
