2. I was just thinking that this morning
I think I'll make that suggestion to my spouse so we can agree on what to watch in the morning. We only really want the local weather.

When did Katie turn bad? I don't remember her being that way years ago. But then I switched to GMA. Now I can't get that channel (don't ask, long story about a berserk RCA tv set).

10. I was once a fan of hers...she was on local news in DC back then
I noticed the change in her a few years back, and I have altogether stopped watching the Today Show.

6. You know,
Edited on Thu Feb-02-06 04:41 PM by rateyes
her sister ran for some seat as a Democrat against George Allen for something, I believe...this has been long ago, from Charlottesville, VA. Katie went to school at UVA...and that area is very "Red" in its politics. Also, GE owns NBC..GE has a plant near Charlottesville, and we know what side GE's owner is on. I wonder how the Pukes got to her, because she sure does seem likes she's spewing their garbage these days. She has changed. For the past couple of weeks, I've noticed in the first half hour of the program, they have interviewed 4 Repubs to 1 democrat during the week on the issues...even have O'Reilly on as some kind of damned expert. Go figure.

8. Katie Couric is a pretty lame news journalist and I think she should
probably stick to Hollywood stars. Senator Kerry gave her all she could handle, though.

She's consistently flippant to politicians generally and nasty-spirited to Democrats especially.

Hell, I really miss Jane Pauley. She was a LOT more thorough and incisive and respectful.

36. I don't get how anyone would ever consider her a journalist
she's a TV personality and never really been a journalist in my eyes. I can enjoy and like Katie because she's as far from a journalist as I am.

Jane Pauley was an excellent journalist. Her and Katie aren't even in the same ballpark and shouldn't be compared.

19. I think you guys are putting to much into this
I watch Katie every morning and just a few days ago she was ripping into some white house official over the whole Abramoff thing. And you could hear it in her voice that she was really ticked off at the repetitive talking point answer that he kept giving. I enjoyed it.

Even if she does have a right wing slant. Of all the people out there we should be attacking, I hardly think Katie is at the top of the list. How about Sean Hannity for starters. He is as big a scum bag as they come. I don't mean that in a funny way, I mean that every night he lies and distorts intentionally in order to push a point of view.

Can I see or read the transcript from the show you all are talking about with Kerry? Did Kerry fight back or give a nauseatingingly boring answer? I'd like to see it if he gave her a smack down. Or are you just saying she bashes Kerry in general?

44. Frankly, I finally saw it, and I think you all are making more of it than
what it turned out. Kerry handled her decisively. She was marginalized, even though she gave Kerry some hardballs.

Kerry did well, but I still think that he gives way too much information to people who are use to soundbites. I'm glad that he can juggle a lot of balls in his head, but when he's on national t.v., he needs to pick the ones which will connect him with the average person. Especially on a show that has a Katie Couric, he doesn't need to lay out everything he knows. He needs to save that indepth explanation for the Sunday morning shows.
