3. Here's a sample:
But for weirdness on steroids, try Jim Rutz, a right-wing preacher and writer who says he's found the devil in soybeans. "There's a slow poison out there that's severely damaging our children and threatening to tear apart our culture," he warns in a December column titled: "Soy is making kids 'gay.'"

I kid you not.

Listen to this guys own words: "When you eat or drink a lot of soy stuff, you're also getting substantial quantities of estrogens.... Soy is feminizing and commonly leads to a decrease in the size of the penis, sexual confusion, and homosexuality. That's why most of the medical blame for today's rise in homosexuality must fall upon the rise in soy formula and other soy products." Rutz adds, parenthetically, "Most babies are bottle-fed during some part of their infancy, and one-fourth of them are getting soy milk!"

27. I googled it just now...
And as often as not, it's attributed to Barry Switzer.

It does sound like something Ann Richards would have said, though. She was great!

13. I guess the soybean farmers don't donate to Republicans as much as the cattle ranchers do...
Otherwise you'd be hearing the reports of how bad beef is and how much more earth-friendly and versatile soybeans are...

JUST YESTERDAY I learned the expression "astroturf" as it relates to fake 3rd party "reports" like this one. On usenet, a guy actually "disputed" global warming by citing a report by the (coal-industry funded) "Lavoisier Group"...

the PDF "report" on the "lies of global warming": http://www.tinyurl.com/ym7xj3

Two clicks on Google will find out everything you need to know about these guys...

I had my periodic 'fix' of miso soup and sushi just a couple of days ago. The wasabi and soy sauce dipping obviously caused my peepee to shrink. :eyes:

29. Well he's an idiot, but the estrogen in soy has been an actual issue
Plenty of concern in some health circles about it. Particularly soy formula. No solid evidence though that shows a connection, but there have been some contradictory studies, and most doctors and scientists while they'll say there is no evidence, will usually also say that more studies need to be done.

Soy IS full of isoflavones which is the plant version of estrogen.

There is NO evidence that it's making boys gay, nor girls having their periods earlier, etc, but mroe studies need to be done.
