I'm probably older than many of you. I have lived through Viet Nam. I was filled with the enthusiasm that only comes with youth. Not any more. Now, I'm a realist.
Which brings me to my point. Hillary...
What is more important, Hillary getting the nod, or getting one of us into the White House?
What, exactly, makes Hillary the right choice? Does she have experience? Not really. Hillary is a carpetbagger, choosing the NY Senate as a springboard for a presidential bid. Is Hillary a good Senator? I believe she is. Is she qualified to serve as Commander in Chief? Who knows. She has no real record to speak of. Maybe she would be the best choice. If she got the nod, I would vote for her.
But that's not the point.
Take a good look at how the GOP marketed the chimp. It was fucking brilliant. FUD. A guy you can have a beer with. Factor in the swift boating and the Bush campain was well crafted to appeal to Joee Six-Pack and the average, braindead middle-American voter.
And it worked. (Well, not really. Asswipe lost in '00 and who knows what really happened in '04)
Take a look at recent Democratic Presidents Carter and Clinton. What one thing do these two have in common?
They are "Good Old Boys". Southerners.
All that "Senator from Mass." shit that the chimp pulled resonated with a large percentage of the voting public. It's truly a fucking shame, but shit like that works.
Me, I would vote for Obama in a minute, but the country is about as ready for a Person of Color as they are for a woman named Clinton.
If it was Hillary vs. McCain do you *really* think Hillary would win?
If we're serious about taking back the White House it's time to look at the facts and put idealism in the closet for a bit. We need a candidate the country can bond with, and I don't believe that person will be Hillary.
OK, you're thinking. So who would *you* support? I know...
People are positining themselves for their presidential bids. I haven't heard enough yet to make a decision, but I'm hoping that a candidate that can really bond with the American public gets the nod.
So what some call "Hillary Bashing", I call realism.
