If anyone ever wondered wherefrom the insanity abiding in George Walker Bush comes from, his constant denial of reality, his arrogance accompanied by, “only my view of reality is correct” ... one has to look no further than George Herbert Walker Bush. The son mirrors the father and the father echoed the son in one of those explosive moments so generic to the Bushes in a recent speaking engagement at Abu Dhabi.

It seems that to get at the truth of George Herbert Walker Bush’s thinking, all anyone has ever to do, is to criticize his son George...then you get the real nuts and bolts loose in the man’s brain, as it happened this past Tuesday while GHWB was speaking at a conference in the Persian Gulf when a student in the audience, with enough courage to stand up and speak out became the voice for many gathered at GHWB’s speaking event, reportedly telling him, “...we do not respect your son, and we do not respect what you are doing all over the world.”

Bush the father who likes to think of himself as a great American statesman who loves America and his sons, and who, like his son, must have a few nuts and bolts loose in his brain, turned around like a threatened viper, and went on the attack himself, saying, “It takes a lot of guts to tell a father what you said about his son when I just told you that the thing that matters to my heart is my family.”

Wow! Easy escape route, turn the focus to the emotional strings of a father’s bleeding heart while overlooking all the Bush wheeling and dealing done through the years of acquiring wealth and power in America and around the world and trap the audience into silence.

However, the audience was not the usual bought and paid for, Republican Right Wing, or Christian Coalition audience in attendance at Bush conference these days who are willing to listen to Bush platitudes and fabricated stories, a/k/a lies, about WMDs, or “Mission Accomplished”, or “Victory in Iraq.”

No. This time the audience was made up of thinking human beings, able to stay in touch with reality, able to pose real criticism, not intimidated by a Department of Homeland Security, or Big Brother, or the Patriot Act, or contained in Free Speech Zones. They were an audience representing the best of what democracy has to offer: free speech which questioned or exposed the Bush policy based on reality.
