3. CNN chickie just said the snow had "smothered" some cars
:eyes:

um,, I think I'd be a bit more worried about the PEOPLE !! When I hear "smothered", I don't think of cars..:grr:

On highway 40, in between hwy 70 and Winter Park. The cars were probably on their way to Winter Park. (Saturday morning, lots of snow, etc.)

Plenty of avalanche potential there.

That road closed makes it damned inconvenient to get to a popular winter recreation area. There is a train from Denver that takes a different route.

they say here that it was the biggest avalanche the workers in the area had ever seen (which is saying something)

15 feet deep across parts of the highway.

So far just one injury, searching for additional survivors.
