3. I would bet they are absolutely wrong
The ease with which the honor guard carried the casket belies the 800 lb. report. When I was in college I worked at a funeral home and there were no caskets even approaching 800lbs. Even the Bronze ones didn't come close to that.

Edited on Sat Jan-06-07 02:59 PM by flordehinojos
preferible along the bay in santiago de cuba

... but since that will not be possible, any coastline will be good enough for me.

that is good enough for me.

10. I was a pallbearer for a young man...
There were six of us, and our assignment was to move the casket about ten feet. All of us were larger than average and in good shape. That thing was so incredibly heavy I thought my arm was going to come out of its socket. We were barely able to get it into the hearse, and all us were marveling at the immense weight. Part of it was the surprise, but the entire weight was many hundreds of pounds.

11. James Brown's casket was 14k Gold and weighed 500 lbs before his body was in it.
650 lbs with him in it. Fords weighed 800 lbs? Sheesh...it must have been concrete! Those soldiers carried it like it weighed almost nothing! I'm impressed! They made it seem effortless.

15. LOL! I know! It was his manager who spoke at the funeral. He told the entire story
Edited on Sat Jan-06-07 03:12 PM by in_cog_ni_to
about the guy who organized the funeral, how he said "nothing but a 14K Gold casket would be good enough for James Brown." He found a company who made them, but the casket was too heavy for a regular passenger jet so he chartered a Delta Plane, but got to the airport too late and he ended up driving the casket to Georgia himself. I cringed as a listened to the story for the same reason you mention.:)

a Viking Funeral. I just wonder if all the red tape can be bypassed and some friends just send me on to nivrana(sp?) without any further hassle.
