BTW, I certainly wouldn't advocate anyone using LSD, but I do wish there were some research done to examine it for beneficial possibilities. What's in it that caused that spider to spin an absolutely perfect web? I'd thing this knowledge would be very useful. Unfortunately, because of the law, researchers have to go through so many contortions to be allowed to study it that they just don't bother and that's too bad.

21. There actually was a study done some 40 years ago

where the spiders were given LSD, barbiturates, caffeine, methydrine, and THC. A normal spider spun a web that was, as expected, very good. Some imperfections, but good.

The caffeine and meth spiders spun a web that was disorganized and incomplete, much as you'd expect it to be.

The THC and downer spiders spun a web that was sloppy and very incomplete.

The real surprise was the spider on LSD. The web was absolutely perfect.

There were photos of the webs. I first heard of, and saw this, in one of those old Time/Life series of books. This was from the Science series and the particular book was entitled "Drugs".

The video is very funny, but it's also inaccurate and misleading.
