The one-day honeymoon is over, here come the hit pieces. Exhibit A:
So much for congressional lobby reform?

By Lisa Myers & the NBC News Investigative Unit

WASHINGTON — Democrats say they were returned to power in part because of corruption and ethical lapses of the Republican Congress. They promised to clean up the swamp and crack down on lobbyists.

But hours after changing House rules to reduce favors from lobbyists, it was back to business as usual in Washington.

Democrats threw a $1,000-a-person fundraising concert in Washington Thursday night, with Hollywood celebrities, big donors and those lobbyists writing checks to re-elect Democrats.

------------

One fine day, the first female Speaker is elected.

Next day, back to Lisa and the rest of the corporate media lapdogs.

Our work is far from over.

5. No, it's just illegal to report Republican fundraising.
:grr:

Democrats aren't allowed to raise funds.

when they left.

How many lobbyists at the Dem party fundraiser? 200. Don't worry, they still don't like Dems much.

Yes, one day is all it takes to be tarred with the Republican brush.

3. I may be totally wrong here (and it won't be the first time either).
But isn't that mixing apples & oranges? Those weren't lobbyist were they?

8. Whoever promised a honeymoon?
I, too, was wondering of who was going to pay for the three days gala.

And if we want to be in a position of power we should expect criticism left and right. It goes with the territory.

Otherwise we can always be in the majority and criticize everyone and everything that the powerful do, while they laugh all the way to their high seats.

It's a gradual de-escalation from business as usual. Gimme a break.

14. Honeymoon?...
the corp-whores, and the pukes they serve, have been pissing and moaning for weeks now. The newbies had not yet step foot onto the Congress floor, and Tweety for one was griping that they hadn't ended the war. Creating reality into a fine spectacle reminiscent of a Barnum & Bailey extravaganza.

17. I got a belly full of Drier...
and his posse on the floor yipping about how dems didn't go far enough in their new ethics rules, and about how the republicans had tried really hard to pass the exact same thing a year ago. :nuke: Man..they get on their talking points and go to town. They personify the worst of whom they represent...not an original or logical argument among them.

She asked for this years ago, Hastert didn't even bother to say yes, no, or go Cheney yourself.
