Burton votes against lobbying reform

Washington - Keeping lobbyists from corrupting Congress was the first action from Democrats after taking control on Capitol Hill Thursday. Hoosiers were eager to get on board, but one of them voted no.

The sordid details of a super-lobbyist's efforts to sway members of Congress with lavish gifts and foreign travel became exhibit A in the case many voters found for bouncing Republicans from power on Capitol Hill. The new rules say no more gifts from lobbyists and no more junkets on private jets. They were approved 430-1, with Indiana's Dan Burton voting against.

If your new bill passes unanimously, it's a good indication that you didn't ask for enough. Since it passed by such a large margin, there must be plenty of loopholes for corporate money to leak through. If it really stopped corporate money, there would have been more of a fight.

But enough of this easy shit. If congress can stop the war, I'll applaud the effort. Isn't that why Democrats won the majority? It wasn't because of lobbyist reform.
