NOAA guy on NBC News "Debunks" Global Warming along with Brian Williams
Edited on Fri Jan-05-07 07:09 PM by leftchick
What a complete set up that was. Brian the GE paid asshat started by showing the warm winter all over the eastern half of the country then introduced a person from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association by saying, please put to rest the notion that global warming has anything to do with this. And wallah! He did, with his "thirty years of experience" he stated this had nothing to do with GW it is ALL EL_NINO!!!!!

No mention of the new Planting Zones, No mention of the warmest winters around the freaking globe! No mention of ice shelves dropping into the arctic ocean. No mention of the disappearing glaciers. IT IS ALL EL-NINO!!!!

I can provide links if anyone needs them but I have posted them many times before. It is indeed Climate Change exacerbated by el-Nino plain and simple.

I see Brian did hs part for GE and ExxonMobil tonight. Apparently he does not give a shit about the future of this planet. Only the lining of his pockets.

DISGUSTING! :puke:

2. You can always find an expert to spout whatever you want
if you're willing to offer money and/or public attention.

4. Uh, it probably does have a lot to do with El Nino.
The ice shelves... not so much.

5. Short term weather forecasters were the last to get onboard with GW....
The guys at AccuWeather especially are very anti-GW...

Of course AccuWeather's largest customers are the oil companies that buy forecasts for their offshore rigs. But that has NOTHING to do with their expert opinions.. :eyes:

7. Well, they aren't climatologists, are they?
Why anyone would listen to AccuWeather on the topic of global warming is beyond me.

10. No, they're not. But if you were looking for an 'expert' to debunk GW...
the ranks of weathermen would be a good place to start.

As I explained to my son, pattern swings can change short term climate by 15 - 20 degrees, no problem. But if the global mean temperature goes up by 4 degrees, we're screwed.

6. Hmm...the last time El Nino was at its worst, it was NEVER 40 degrees
above normal in Central Ohio. I have been around for nearly 47 years, and it is frankly frightening to be sitting outside on January 5 in central Ohio at 7:00 at night and the temperature is a BALMY 60 degrees.

I thought it was warm as heck last winter, it has been downright hot this winter so far.

El Nino my ass.

has some relation to this warm weather also.

Edited on Fri Jan-05-07 07:29 PM by Kajsa
There is no friggin El Nino this year!
I heard that prediction, too.

SoCal has had a total of 1/2 inch of rain so far.
We are in the middle of our rainy season.

Everything is brown, the air is very cold, dry and
windy.

I've lived in SoCal off and on for 52 years.
I know what an El Nino winter is like- 1983, 1997 etc.

This isn't it!

We are having a La Nina- the opposite- dry climate, no rain winter.

( btw: I'm a weather freak who checks NOAA's website all the time)
( this one doesn't fly!)

Edit because of a big misunderstanding

What doesn't fly is the El Nino theory.
I also believe it's global warming.

12. well
I listened to a Climatologist this morning ( and not the first I have read/listened to about climate change)who assured me the weather phenomena is unprecedented and that it is a direct result of Global Warming. I vote with the Climatologist and not a "weather freak". Thanks for trying though.

I was dispelling the El Nino theory.

So what's the problem?

13. It isn't an El Nino winter here in So Cal.......................
El Nino brings us horrible, biblical, flooding rainstorms.

Been a really dry, boring winter so far. We have had three small storms where it got wet. But no REAL rain.

brian williams should have had the other side of the coin with scientists who are concerned about Global Climate Change due to the man-made pollution of our Planet.

Fucking shill propogandists.

16. I'm sure NOAA isn't allowed to talk "global warming" stuff....
The same way the Grand Canyon Park Rangers aren't allowed to talk about the real age of the Canyon.. It's really sad, isn't it.

18. Any mention of the NAO...
North Atlantic Oscillation, which some weather and climate types are blaming this winter on.

Global warming is real, but this winter isn't, strictly speaking, a global warming phenomenon.

19. El Nino and global warming are two different matters
That is what the guest from NOAA failed to mention. He could have easily said that the phenomenon that we are now seeing is el Nino, but global warming is also occurring.

Global warming is measured over the course of decades, and, obviously, all over the globe. You can't just look at one season in one part of the world and say that global warming is occurring. That is the point that"An Inconvenient Truth" so eloquently makes.

http://video.msn.com/v/us/msnbc.htm?g=0E3C8471-E243-43AD-A98C-7DADD99BDF1C&f=00&fg=copy this was Bill's second segment- was on an hour earlie also explaing El Nino and Global warming. Wish I could find that clip, but this one is pretty good too.
