This story just gets better and better.

http://news.yahoo.com/photos/ss/events//us/010507subwayautrey/im:/070104/480/nybm10201041852

In this photo released by CBS, Wesley Autrey, left, recounts the events of Tuesday, Jan 2, 2007 to host David Letterman on the set of 'The Late Show with David Letterman,' Thursday, Jan 4, 2007 in New York. Autrey risked his own life by jumping down on to the tracks in front of an oncoming subway train, then pulling Cameron Hollopeter, a 19 year old college student, into a shallow ditch between the rails to safety as the train passed just inches overhead. Earlier in the day, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg presented Autrey with the city's Bronze Medallion, New York's highest award for civic achievement. (AP Photo/CBS, J.P. Flio)

2. He deserves all the good things that come to him for his unselfish
act. He is the kind of man that people should be pointed to as a role model and a hero, not your average party hearty sports/movie star idiot.

3. He had amazing presence on Letterman.
I don't know what he does for a living but companies should consider hiring him as a spokesperson. The man can think on his feet. Neither a subway train on his back nor TV cameras could fluster him.

4. Finally.
Someone who is deserving of accolades and monied gifts is receiving them.

It's about time America started realizing that heroes aren't over-paid sports stars or drama queens - they're your neighbors.

What a brave and amazing thing for him to do. He is truly a hero. His beautiful children must be very proud. I know I'm proud to say he is a fellow American.

13. Way to go Dave for having him on the show.

I halfway expected Dave to give Mr Autrey a gift to match Trump's.

Maybe he gave him something off camera so it wouldn't look so tacky.

I'll bet his girls are just bursting with pride, and rightfully so.

he is truly amazing. What a humble man. God bless him. :applause:

Donald Trump could have coughed up more than 10,000 dollars though:eyes: Donald just can't stand for anyone to take the limelight off of him.

15. Trump probably wouldn't have given him jack if he wasn't in the
middle of a publicity push for his latest season of "The Apprentice", debuting this coming Sunday night! Just like the Rosie feud, he's nothing but a master manipulator of the media. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Letterman did something substantial for him off-camera; he's always struck me as a totally sincere and caring guy.

To jump on the tracks, get himself and the guy he rescued into a very narrow trough and have the presence of mind to remain calm as two subway cars rolled over him is absolutely amazing. He deserves every accolade.

Not that it matters and huge kudos for him for raising them, but I'm just curious if anyone has reported anything.

30. don't know. But if he's single, I bet there's a long list of women who'd remedy that
some people might be courageous enough to do what he did and some might be quick thinking enough, but very, very few are both.
