1. Well...

I believe they need to be getting legislation on time and within a good amount of time to review it. I don't care how badly they treated us, I'd like to make them whine, I'd like to make them the crybabies and treat them like shit for a good while because they'd never dream of doing the things to us that they are now asking. But the fact of the matter remainds that we ran on bipartisanship, and if the first thing we do is lock out the Republicans then you can expect that when the shit hits the fan the only people that fingers will be pointing at is us.

Let's be politicians, not heated and emotional(regardless as how rightful we are to be), and play our cards very carefully.

I don't recall any such thing.

>>Let's be politicians, not heated and emotional(regardless as how rightful we are to be), and play our cards very carefully.<<

I suggest we play our cards as 'carefully' as the GOP did for the last 12 years, deal?

Let's play go fish OK?

15. No, vengeance will not make this situation better.
Once we accomplish the campaign promises, we have to let them in on the fun, because they won't be able to blame us alone if something goes wrong. That's the real benefit to us for bi-partisanship, if we fuck up they won't be able to blame us.

We know the People want reform, but once that has been achieved there needs to be bipartisanship.

35. I don't know if they will or won't
co-operate I mean. I don't think we should leave the door open for them to hurt us, but if some of them are willing to play along we might crack a window a little. There is an election for some of these guys coming up and they are scared to death of losing their meal ticket. I think some of them are also afraid of bush and being held responsible for what he is going to do. (it didn't seem to bother them as long as the fundies were in bush's back pocket, but now...) I think there is an old fishing term, hook them and see how it plays out. If you see you're in trouble, then cut the line. ;-)

I need an old fogey smilie.

don't deserve SHIT! If they get some semblance of support, it will because the Dems are of a better class than they are. Dreier didn't exude bipartisanship today, he went out of his way to be a partisan rethug idiot.

26. I don't know if the bi-partisanship really extends to Congress as much...
because the President has the power to veto something which Republicans in general won't like, and since the majorities are not super majorities, it's impossible to overrule them.

The situation now for the Republicans is quite different from the one in which Mrs. Pelosi offered her bill of rights, which the pugs want.

For a period of a little more than four years we had no political representation with power in the bargaining process at the national level. 48% (in 2004) had no ability to voice their opinions.

The Republicans still control the Presidency. However, if we were to maintain control of Congress and they would lose the WH in '08, I would support minority rights for them then. But is should be conditional on whether someone has any ability to affect the legislative process, not solely on who controls Congress.

27. I don't think it's 'foolish' at all. They need to be put in their place as
the minority party. I will not forget how they treated Pelosi, Conyers, et al when they were 'in charge'.

28. To some degree, I don't think we have to worry about encouraging bipartisanship...
because in law the Republican President and the Democratically controlled Congress must deal with each other, however, if the Republicans should fall into a situation where they have lost the WH and we keep control of the Congress, they won't have any representation with power on the Hill, that's wrong. just as it was wrong for us not to have representation with power for a period of four years, especially when we made up 48% of the population during that time.

5. If we are handing out the paper to Dems before Repigs, that's not good
But if the distribution occurs all of a piece, they just need to shut up...after all, the rule applies to Democrats as well. It's not like the D's are imposing a rule on the R's that they don't have to follow themselves. If they need remedial reading classes, I'm sure we can set them up in that basement room that Conyers used for his investigatory inquiries...!

wouldn't even hand Nancy the gravel, among the truly important moments in the history of America and he couldn't rise above his ill nature to attend it; this is what the republicans are = snippy, pissy, insufferable assholes whether they have time to read the rules of the game, or break them...that is who they are, and it is time imo for them to look into the mirror and begin to discern their own foibles first

i do care how badly they treated us however, when the shit has been hitting the fan for 12 years x( no dem has counseled in-civility in response

25. I very much agree with that...
the Republicans still have minority powers. I think that a minority bill of rights should only apply in the house or senate when the minority party won't have the veto power of the white house. That's to prevent complete exclusion from the debate.
