"I'm not homophobic, but..."
"I'm not homophobic, but..."

Ever notice that 99% of the time, when you hear that phrase, the next thing that follows is something quite homophobic? You hear this phrase a lot from right-wing talk shows. The other day, I heard someone say "I'm not homophobic, I have nothing against gays. Actually I refer to them as homosexual, because in my day, gay meant happy, and there aren't any happy homosexuals."

Then you have Curtis Jackboot Sliwa saying "I'm not homophobic, but I don't really like to see Spongebob Squarepants and Patrick holding hands."

I love how these religious whackos try to disguise their homophobia by saying "I'm not homophobic." Bullshit.

3. Sadly, in too many parts of the country
the majority don't even bother with the "I'm not homophobic" part yet. They openly and unquestioningly oppose and even hate gays, and think nothing of it, as though everyone else did too. I grew up in a place like that and now live in a similar place.

7. "We're not the racist party, we have Condaleeza Rice!"
Notice how they love to throw around the names of the few prominent black Republicans? What's truly sad is that there are so few of them, you can probably list them all on one hand!

14. Yeah, they have her and they can keep her! And her race has
nothing to do with her incompetence and overall evilness.

4. Re: Curtis Sliwa--
He should have prefaced it with, "I'm not a dumbass who can't tell the difference between reality and a cartoon, but..." :eyes:

9. And then there's "I'm not homophobic - I ain't afraid of no queers!"
And the funny thing about THAT one is that yes, they are afraid of queers: desperately, quakingly afraid, and disguising it all very badly in hate.
