I thought by now everyone around here would know about it. It's been talked about for quite a while now.

It's on January 27. United for Peace and Justice is the organizer. It's against the war.

it is something we should all do, it's too damn important and Bush is scheduled to escalate the troop numbers next week.

We got to tell them enough is enough.

14. You'll love it
My first one (at 56 years old) was in DC in September of '05 and my second was last April in NY.

I'm now seriously considering going, since the winter weather appears it will continue to hold off. The long range forecast for DC that week is in the low 40s, which isn't too bad if dressed properly. Of course, that could change five times between now and then.

There's also a cheap fare from here -- only $124 round trip.

I think Wolverine is going to go, too. It would be great to meet you, finally!

15. Go! I'm in 'negotiations' with Wolverine to go; I'd meet her at the
big airport in Houston. We met in Crawford briefly, have talked more on DU, so it would be very cool. And to meet your own awesome self and other DUers and like-minded people will be awesome!

Wolverine said something about staying at a Marriott near the mall. Sounds like it might be her, me and Sister staying together.

33. And A.N.S.W.E.R. is thankfully nowhere to be found
Maybe this one will run more effectively. I never much cared for A.N.S.W.E.R. but after the September 2005 march, I hated them. They were awful, obstructionist and just plain stupid. I won't ever be involved with another march that has them prominantly involved.

61. Yeah, sadly all of my available funds
are being funneled into buying a Prius to replace my beloved 12 year old car. And it happens at the end of this month. Profoundly bad timing on the part of my elderly car. I'm sad to not be able to go but I have faith in my DU brethren. Are you folks getting together to march under the DU banner? You can talk to EarlG about that one.

38. I'm seriously considering it now.
I wasn't going to, but since it's not going to be awfully cold and there's a good airfare, it's hard for me to say no. My biggest problem is that we have our annual meeting from work the previous Monday-Wednesday in Chicago and I'm going there for that weekend as well, so now I'll be gone two weekends in a row and will only be in the office one day that week. I think I can make it work, though.

I think it so important to go at this time. We have to keep the pressure on. I"m really excited.
Vets for Peace members will also be there. I'm there to give them support. I don't have much money but felt this was too important to miss.

I can't wait to meet with my Legislators and give them petitions from those collected in Minneapolis to bring the troops home, and to close Gitmo.

My first-ever protest was the one in Sept 2005. 500K strong, so of course the media reported that "tens of ones" showed up. :eyes: The downside to that was ANSWER being involved. What a complete f-up that was.

Anyway, I look forward to meeting you there! :woohoo:

TROOPS HOME NOW!

We'll be in Florida that weekend for the grandtwins 4th birthday and Super Bowl the following weekend. And yes, I was peeved about the conflict....or I would be THERE, you know it!!!

AND.... if 2 or 20 or 200 DUers go.....make sure there's a Spirit Sign or Shirt or something marching with you. It's special! And I want to sign up :)

Have a feeling I'm missing Keith's Birthday Weekend too

Hope to see some DUers there!

You're right about KO's birthday -- it's the day of the march! Maybe we should carry a happy birthday, Keith Olbermann sign.

I'm actually thinking about going to Yearly Kos, too. I've been talking to Nancy Skinner about going. Since it's in Chicago, it's kind of a no-brainer from here.

Definitely!!!! I would sign that sigh-n too :) I'm sure 98% of the peace marchers would understand and celebrate his special day too

I was going to start a thread about YearlyKos soon....just to remind peeps, that the registration discount is only good through Jan 31 and the discounted block of rooms at the host hotel are going fast...AND...if you have problems reserving a room online at the special rate, call the hotel directly...there seems to be some online glitches in the early stages of planning. BUT, not to panic.

The Chicago Trib has already called it one of the Top Ten (#5!) Chicagoland Events for 2007 and predicting it to be the Official Kick Off for the 2008 Presidential Primaries. How kewl is that ! Hope to see lotsa DUers there :loveya:

It looked like the standard fee of $175 wasn't a discounted rate. What is the host hotel? I didn't bother to check it when I was on the site earlier. I suppose I could book that and cancel later if I wind up not going.

Tell you what though, I'll definitely be up for a DU meetup in Chicago for the Kos convention this summer. If anyone needs a place to stay in Chicago, we have a spare bedroom that should be available.

Have a great time in DC on the 27th. I'll be there in spirit with you and hopefully the corporate media will give this some decent coverage.

75. I Just Got Connected With A Demonstration That Will Be Held
here in Sarasota... so guess I'll be there. I got a new camcorder/digital camera for Christmas and maybe I can get some pictures!

But then I will have to learn how to get them from my camera to here at DU! I have never done that yet and will have to do some research! Had to learn about the camera too! Had a regular digital, and it was "easy" but this one has a few more bells & whistles!???
