It appears Poppy is falling apart. Literally.
Mayo Clinic: Elder Bush has second hip replaced

ROCHESTER, Minnesota (CNN) -- Former President George H.W. Bush is "resting comfortably" after having his right hip replaced at the Mayo Clinic, the facility announced Thursday.

Bush, 82, the current president's father, went into surgery early Wednesday, according to a statement from the clinic.

"The surgery proceeded well, as expected. The president returned to his hospital room and is resting comfortably," the clinic reported.

It is Bush's second hip-replacement operation. Doctors at the Mayo Clinic replaced his left hip in 2000.

Bush checked into the clinic Tuesday and he is not expected to remain hospitalized long, said James Appleby, an aide to the elder Bush.

The Associated Press reported that the 41st U.S. president checked into the clinic after attending a funeral in Washington for former President Gerald Ford, where he delivered a eulogy.

Bush announced last week that he might have the replacement operation in January

I don't even want to think about what kind of "rememberance" ceremonies they'll be giving him. It will be far worse than Reagan's. :puke:

Sad thing is, it probably will happen too. I saw Bush Sr. on TV the other day and he looks like death warmed over.

22. It is said that physicians can separate a person from his wallet. That won't happen
easily to Bush, Sr. It would be the last thing to happen before he dies.

13. Fairly routine for the elderly.

Hips and knees.

My ex-girlfriends father has both knees done at the same time. three months later the old geezer was crushing me at tennis... he said his knees were BETTER than when he was 30 (I think he was exaggerating a bit there).

as a matter of fact, during Gulf War 1, I was in the hospital getting knee surgery.

my kneecaps are all but rubbed away.

I do, however, collect disability for the condition.

“Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to make the world’s first bionic man. Steve Austin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better. Stronger. Faster.”

44. I'll go with something like this
May he live long then strapped to a chair, eyes removed with a
melon baller. Nursed back to health. Lips sewn to a rubber hose connecting him to a 500 gallon nutrition shake. Nursed back to health. Fingers, hands, toes, feet, nose and genitals devoured by hungry pigs. Nursed back to health. Legs and arms ground to stubs with belt sander. Nursed back to health. Fitted with earphones that play only Christina Aguilera songs, and left alone to think about what he has done.
