DUer Helps Massachusetts Workers Go Back to Work...
Edited on Wed Jan-03-07 10:15 AM by louis c
Well, as some of you know I am a proud union Rep. here in Mass. I am also a proud member of dmocraticunderground. So, when something happens involving my membership, I like to share it.

Anyway, the national news here in Mass. yesterday centered around the attempted ballot initiative involving the now famous "Gay-Marriage" provision of the state's constitution. During this raucous debate, I had to try to work to get a difficult agreement through the legislature to get my 200 members (and myself) back to work. We've been out two days, and because we faced an end to the session, if we were unable to get that extension yesterday, we would be out a minimum of three weeks or perhaps never open again.

We are just awaiting Governor Romney's signature (no sure thing) in order to go back.

Here's the story.

1. Hopefully, he'll sign it before he leaves today ...
do you have any contacts with Patrick's camp? You may wanna get a hold of them so if it's not signed, I'll be in the front of his to-do list.

3. He still hasn't signed the bill
His office told me he's too busy.

If he doesn't sign by tomorrow at 10 AM, we'll be out of work again for weeks.
