Officials: U.S. may begin military buildup near Iraq

Thursday, December 19, 2002 Posted: 8:37 PM EST (0137 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Pentagon may begin an aggressive buildup of U.S. military forces in the Persian Gulf region in January, depending on decisions made in the next few days, Pentagon officials said.

The buildup would "tighten the noose" around Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, according to one Pentagon official. -snip-

9. The U.S. used the term "noose" a lot in reference to Saddam after the Invasion began.
You probably can't find those quotes now because they're lost in the deluge of information since the hanging of Saddam, but I remember distinctly the use of phrases such as "the noose is tightening" and "we're tightening the noose" in reference to the search for Saddam when he was in hiding.

They knew all along. They sure did.

I had forgotten about those "Western" euphenisms the bush administration is so fond of. Good catch.

The Rev. Pat Robertson said President Bush dismissed his warning that the United States would suffer heavy casualties in Iraq and told the television evangelist just before the beginning of the war that "we're not going to have any casualties."

This crime can't get anymore serious then taking a country to war under fabicated intelligence, which is a quote from Powell.
