bush Clarifies Why 3000 US Troops Have Died in Iraq For Us....
this is total horseshit and I can not believe there is no one questioning these idiotic statements. "ON OUR SOIL AGAIN"???? MFers!!!!

:argh:

<snip>

Asked about the 3,000 figure, deputy White House press secretary Scott Stanzel said that the president "will ensure their sacrifice was not made in vain."

"We will be fighting violent jihadists for peace and security of the civilized world for years to come. The brave men and women of the U.S. military are fighting extremists in order to stop them from attacking on our soil again," Stanzel said.

President Bush said the nation is mindful of the troops' dedication and sacrifice.

"In the New Year, we will remain on the offensive against the enemies of freedom, advance the security of our country, and work toward a free and unified Iraq," Bush said in a statement released from his ranch in Crawford, Texas.

1. "...in order to stop them from attacking on our soil again" That is
his sole reason he thinks he'll get away with this attitude. And that one sentence ensures endless war and countless deaths unless we can disprove/discount it. And how do we do that when they fabricate terror if it's not actually happening (think August 06 and liquid bombs)?

Still implying a connection between Iraq and 9/11? Unreal!!

5. Egg zack lee
bush claims that he or his admin never tied Iraq to 9/11, what
horse shit.

i.e.

bush on the aircraft carrier, "We have taken away a sanctuary from which
al Qaeda could hide and plan future attacks." rough quote

Scott McCellen when the number of U.S. war dead reached 1,000 he said,
"That is a tragedy but then so is the 3,000 Americans who died when we were
attacked on 9/11." rough quote

3. The flagwaving and fearmongering is wearing thin.
“The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.” H.L. Mencken

7. It's all horsesh*t...

Nothing these asshats say has any relation to reality.

What was that quote... "We're an empire now. We create our own reality and you just observe." Something like that. (I'm too lazy to go searching for it.)

Anyway...people in mental institutions create their own reality, too. Just sayin'.

edit: can't spell "horseshit" :silly:

9. Here's the original article quote and link (Suskind/NYT) if it hasn't been provided:

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/17/magazine/17BUSH.html?ex=1255665600en=890a96189e162076ei=5090

The aide said that guys like me were ''in what we call the reality-based community,'' which he defined as people who ''believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.'' I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. He cut me off. ''That's not the way the world really works anymore,'' he continued. ''We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality -- judiciously, as you will -- we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.''

12. That's the one. That must be the reason
they're never flummoxed by anything. Whatever they decide must be reality. No reason to question anything.

8. OK..my ltte..it will be published.
On the advent of our 3,000th military death in Iraq,I am once again both angered and distressed by the "Official" statement given today.Deputy White House Press Secretary Scott Stanzel said today "We will be fighting violent jihadists for peace and security of the civilized world for years to come. The brave men and women of the U.S. military are fighting extremists in order to stop them from attacking on our soil again,"
Again, the White House attempts to cloud the ugliness of this war by trying to connect Iraq and 9/11.Do you buy this,America? How many of the 9/11 attackers were Iraqi? Why aren't we attacking Saudi Arabia,if we are truly concerned about extremists who wish to do us harm?
As the mother of a soldier who has served in Iraq, now for the third time,I am offended by this childish attempt to excuse this fiasco by blaming the victim. Our servicemen and women have died and been wounded for a cause that was misrepresented to them. They were lied to.Now,the only cause they serve is protecting their buddy, and making it home in one piece. Those of you who still support the lies owe these soldiers, their families, and the wounded veterans of this war an apology...for perpetuating this lie.May we bring all our troops home sooner rather than later, and may all who have profitted from their deaths and injuries be tried for war crimes.

11. Didn't they say the same thing about why we were fighting in Viet Nam?
Something along the lines of, *we're fighting the communists there so communism won't spread to our shores*? Seems I remember hearing that line of "reasoning" at that time.

In fact I remember asking my Dad why we were in Viet Nam and that is the answer he gave me.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

george is stuck on stupid and greed and I'm willing to bet that even he doesn't believe that bs he is spouting, yet he expects us to swallow it, or he is hoping we will.
