Man , I can't take this any longer .
First of all just what will be used to describe the best of the year 2006 in review ? I personally can't think of a thing , not one good thing that came out of 2006 .

Going back to march 20th 2003 up to this day there has been nothing but mass horror and fear along with all the death .

We go out of 2006 still in a surreal state of denile and a sick feeling , at least I feel this way .

I find nothing grand about Saddam being hung , this was just another act of horrid sickness lead by the mad bush crime family . What is this , the cowboy west meets the middle east with a lynching ?

We have regressed to the point of no return and this hanging seals this for me .

Yes I realize Saddam was not the soul of a good man but this does in no way make me feel better to wake up knowing he was hung .

I went to bed early since I hoped that by morning somehow this would have rendered a different result , I avoided what I knew would happen with hope .

A prison sentence for life would have sufficed I think .

I am sickened by this so called america and the past 6 years or dealings in madness , there is not one thing to be proud of , all is in the face of shame .

Bombing , killing , war machines , elections ,executions , the economy and environment, the suffer in the gulf coast of the USA and the pressing forward deeper into some sort of visual hell on earth , this is the year 2006 in review .

1. it's like the stages of grief...
I've gone far past denial and I'm now accepting that our country has slid into madness. I worked like hell in '04 to avoid this disaster and in '06 as well. One would think my conscience would be clean save for my great Aunt, who lived in Germany during WWII and while personally never participated in war crimes understood the need for national repetence and responsibility for what was done in their names. There's no doubt in my mind that we'll be the 'new Germans' of this century and for that I grieve for future generations who will wonder how we allowed this.

9. Not we - but Bush the egomaniac....
And his criminally corrupt regime have long since slid into madness. They will be segregated into the pile of jetsam by history. Chimp's continued delusional disconnect with advice and reason is why I switched from the (don't impeach - waste of time camp) to Articles of impeachment must be introduced within the first 100 days of the new Congress.

I do hold out hope Neecy; hope because America's voices for change were heard in November. That was a positive step. I can only believe things get better from here eh? There are still many folks out there with the wisdom and compassion to make positive changes, included here on DU.

With all the madness and bad news of this year, month, and week - I hope you find some light in the future too. Our future generation includes my two kids; so I chose to hope - I have to hope!

Best wishes for a peaceful 2007 :)

2. Please see my post "Bush = Death" for a discussion of positive imaging.
We need to crowd out this Hangman image with our own life-giving and loving imagery. Truly. These Dark Lords are playing mind-games. And there are ways to resist. THEY want a year of more Death and Darkness. What do YOU want? What have YOU seen, what do you know, of human goodness and hope? Form it in your mind. Hold that image fast. Push back!

3. Here's one good thing
The 2006 Elections. We won the House and Senate despite efforts to derail the vote again.

We have the political power to start to rebuild the country.

Peace.

4. I, for one, am glad to see this year over and done.
Not a banner year for planet Earth.

5.  2006 will just spill over into 2007
Nothing has improved . The elections may have happened but we will have to see it this even makes a difference . However they turn out there is so much damage and so many people screwed that the elections are far to late to help them now so many loose no matter what the dems have planned and this is the crime of it all .

The american people took far too long to wake up if in fact they have .

6. Bush - one of the biggest disasters of this century
Nothing he has done has benefitted us. It shouldn't have taken 3000 military deaths to take Saddam down, if that was what Bush really wanted. Our country has suffered greatly under his rule.

7. Dems take back Houses in 2006, Finally film on Gov harassment of Lennon in 2006, Liberal radio
Edited on Sat Dec-30-06 04:19 PM by GreenTea
and Nova M in particular came into it's own in 2006, Colbert making a mockery of Bush, the republicans and the corporate media at WH correspondence dinner, Gore's film "The Inconvenient Truth" was shown and widely accepted, Rumsfeld was fired, Bush's poll numbers at all time low in 2006, Borat! I can go on... whenever there's a republican administration it means corporations run roughshod over our economy with little or no regulations and it's always hell for the American people & the American worker...so one must try hard to find the positive...I can add more good things about 2006 if you like?

8. The year is ending on a note of nausea.
I was feeling good for a while, after Nov. 4. Then they had to go plaster horrifying pictures of someone being hanged everywhere.
