Hooded executioners?

Please forgive my ignorance if this has already been explained, but why were the executioners hooded?

That seems like an act of cowardice to me. If you are going to hang a noose around someone's neck and kill them, don't you think you should at least own up to it?

This whole bit about hooded executioners just reminds me of some mafioso stuff.

2. I would be astonished if they weren't hooded

Executioners are always kept secret from the people. Here we do it by have several people push the button or give the drugs with no one knowing which one pushed the right button or gave the fatal drug.

9. Really? I was not aware of that. I just assumed that one person did

everything when it comes to executions here in the U.S.

I don`t care what they say. The hooded men around Saddam were our CIA people.
