Poll question: Do You Approve Of Saddam's Execution?
I am nominally opposed to the death penalty because I believe in a culture of life. However I wouldn't participate in a candle light vigil for a condemned child rapist/murderer or a mass murderer.

I would have preferred that Saddam be given a life prison sentence where he could have contemplated the heinousness and barbarity of his acts....

"The death penalty can be tolerated only by extreme statist reactionaries, who demand a state that is so powerful that it has the right to kill." -Noam Chomsky

Saddam probably did deserve to die, but Chomsky makes a good point, especially considering we are imperfect people with imperfect institutions, not sure I want government in the business of deciding who deserves life and death.

The fact that Saddam and Bush are such big fans of it doesn't speak too highly of it either.
