How can we justify killing another human being?
I do not care how evil we see sudam husaine...how can we in the 21st century cheer the death of another human being? It is beyond me!

3. You been asleep for the last 6 years?
Hell we have a list of justifications, whether or not they are legitimate is a whole nother subject.

4. I have no problem at all with the Death Penalty.
This one just seems illegitimate. Not that he doesn't deserve it but I think this is unfair because of the way they went about it. This wasn't a fair cop. If the Iraqi people wanted to hang him they should have risen up on their own and did it.

7. I think in Saddam's case, it's debatable whether he's a human being...
or a sick and twisted animal, which BushCO used to support.

10. howcan it ever be OK to kill!
It is like saying to your child...do not kick your brother, so because you did it, I will slap the shit out of you...to teach you a lesson....what we say when we kill even one of our most undesirable brothers....I only teach you that if you are powerful enough, it is OK to kick your brother. But even that is inadequate...it is not OK to kill our brothers...even if we do not like them.

11. How can it ever be ok to kill?
You might want to refine that, because I can think of a couple of situations in which it is perfectly fine. Mainly self-defense.

8. I was reading about Eric Rudolph recently
The freak who bombed women's health clinics and the Atlanta Olympics. He said he was miserable. That is a fate worse than death in my opinion. Keep Saddam Hussein locked away for life in solitary. Like the assholes in supermax. Death is an easy way out for freaks like that.

9. Here we have a man being put to death for
the death of some of his citizens. He was a tryant. BUT look at bush. He is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi. And illegally so. He had not right and no reason to invade a neutral country. Who is going to prosecute him?

12. With a gun, obviously.
There's only one reason we are able to kill Saddam, because we have the power to do so. That is our justification, our modus operandi and our legacy. We are the Machiavelli nation of the modern age and have earned the fear and loathing of the entire world. They will do as we tell them, for now.

When we fall the sound of laughter will be deafening.

14. What if someone is about to kill you?
I don't think it's wrong to kill them. I don't think anyone with common sense would say that. You need to refine your point.

24. America isn't unique to that though.
Can you name any great power in history that didn't go the same way? Ancient Greece, Rome, Holy Roman Empire, Spain, France, Great Britain, and now the USA. We all fall from the corruption of power. I just hope the rest of the world survives when we stumble.

he was found guilty of horrendous crimes in court of law and i've never heard anyone seriously suggest he wasn't guilty of those crimes

saddam ain't worth the oxygen

i'm not normally in favor of the death penalty but if the DP exists at all it should exist for trash such as this

no tears here

22. Who decides what 'trash' is?
The trial was a farce, staged and directed by Bushit & Co. as has been today's comedic opera: "We have him. No, they have him. He's hanging today. No tomorrow. No next month. Oh, maybe in an hour."

Saddam could not be allowed to live because he would have taken down most, if not all the PNAC pishers who enabled his most heinous crimes. The US pre-ordained the verdict.

Incidentally, Chalabi was the Judas Goat so to speak. For that, we protect him though he's a wanted man.

Saddam was a killer of innocents, the pretzeldent is a killer of innocents. Is he also 'trash'? Shall we let the Iraqis try Bush? And, if you're honest, you have to ask yourself: "What about Pinochet and the many brutal dictators committing genocide all over the globe today? Where are the Shock & Awe invasions and ensuing trials for them?"

Edited on Fri Dec-29-06 09:42 PM by pitohui
you are fighting the wrong person, i fully support public trial for all of the men you mentioned and if they are convicted, then the sentence decided upon by judge and jury should be carried out

i am tired of this world where only the poor and middle class pay for their crimes, you don't know how bone-tired i am of it

i call saddam "a good start"

as far as i'm concerned, the jury decides and in this case we can all agree the jury decided correctly

saddam is trash, you can't seriously dispute this, give me a BREAK

25. It's now moot.
But it seems to me from your posts that you are not as concerned with the 'process' as you are with 'who' is processed - and that's my difference with you. The process of justice, must be applied with integrity; it's what 'rule of law' is supposed to be. No relation to kangaroos at all.

Peace.

Or, for that matter, ask any boss who justifies war.
