We don't know how many Iraqi civilians have died. It could be up to 1 million. That's genocide. What's worse--we are actively causing a genocide when there was already one going on in the Sudan, which really could have used our attention.

When we talk about Hitler, people tend to wonder why German citizens stood by silently as the atrocities occured.

I believe we are once again at that point.

We cannot say we are against the war, all the while not pressuring and pushing for Bush's resignation and a withdrawal plan. I know that most people on DU have pushed for this, but our Senators and congressman don't seem to get it. They represent me and it's making me feel voiceless, powerless, and worst of all, an unwilling enabler of genocide.

1. Ah. So one can call something genocide at the number of 1 million dead?
That's how genocide is defined?

So which people has been genocided? The Shia? The Sunni? Those other guys the Turks don't like?

Is every civil war genocide?

Most witless use of a word I've seen all week.

5. I set the bar at 100,000
I really don't care how others define it. Hell, one unnecessary death is too many.

I was just thinking, here I am enjoying life, living comfortably... All the while, funding (along with millions of other Americans) the destruction of another country. We have ships waiting near Iran!! This is insane. And as long as Bush is not impeached or someone held accountable for this debacle, we as citizens are also guilty. There is no way around it. Can someone please pass the word to Kerry & Co.?

2. That's the degree of responsibilty we have to take, if we are to...
...muster the collective will to make our legislators do the right thing.

3. That is a tad extreme ....
We do what we can, and others do more or less, according to their ability ...

Those Germans who did not support the Nazis didn't last long, while here the Administration KNOWS they face stiff opposition ... from who ? ...

From US .....

I didn't vote for this bunch ... I did what I could to prevent it by speaking out .... Even if I could have done more, Ill be damned if I'll be held responsible for it ....

4. there is no word parsing that will take away the truth you speak-
it is way past time for America to rise up out of this materialistic, media addicted stupor we have become chained to, and live our talk.

I don't know how to begin, but i do know we cannot go on as we are...
