1. Love her
I'm so glad she wanted to come to Texas from California. I'll never understand why, but I'm glad.

3. She was actually brought to Texas...
... by her parents (when she was four years old, I think). For practical purposes, she grew up in Texas. That's how she knew Dubya when she was in high school. They grew up in the same general neighborhood in Houston.

6. I always read her articles, and watch EVERY time she's a guest
on any TV shows. She was on cspan's Q&A last weekend. She was great, but it was also obvious that she's getting pretty old.

I don't see ANYone who could come close to stepping into her shoes!

12. Is she having chemotherapy again? I saw her last Friday on C-span
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 05:58 PM by SharonAnn
Brian Lamb's morning show. She was great, as usual. But I noticed she was wearing a knit stocking type hat and it looked like she had no hair.

If she's having chemotherapy again, then does that mean the breast cancer is back?

God, I hate to think of losing her. She's a real voice of sanity.

13. sigh
yes. the cancer is back:

http://www.statesman.com/news/content/news/stories/local/01/27ivins.html?imw=Y

"Molly Ivins, battling breast cancer afresh, sounds as feisty as ever.

The South Austin resident continues writing her left-of-center column, raising money for the journal where she forged her tart take on politics and, of course, cheerfully gigging Republicans such as the well-coifed governor of Texas.

Brian K. Diggs
AMERICAN-STATESMAN

'Actually, I feel pretty good,' syndicated columnist Molly Ivins said Wednesday at her Travis Heights home. For a third time, she's battling breast cancer.

Ivins, 61, tongue-in-cheeked that Gov. Rick Perry's trip to Iraq this week will slow anti-American insurgents. "The mere sight of his hair will do a world of good," she said..."

I adore that woman. She plainly tells it like it is. God bless her. Have you heard that she has a relapsing course of cancer. That sucks so much. We need this lady.

10. interestingly...
I brought her book "Who Let the Dogs Out" with me on vacation last fall, which coincided with Katrina. So, I was able to see the flood devastation on cnn international and bbc news, while at the same time read Molly's book on the dirty poitics of Delay, Bush 1 and 2, and Texas politics in general. Nice 1-2 punch.
