Macys was selling Dog fur jackets.. what Assholes!!!
Sometimes I wish there was a way to destroy the whole concept of profit.Fuck profit it has led to unspeakable suffering.

Macy's pulls Sean John dog fur jackets

Macy's has pulled from its shelves and its Web site two styles of Sean John hooded jackets, originally advertised as featuring faux fur, after an investigation by the nation's largest animal protection organization concluded that the garments were actually made from a certain species of dog called "raccoon dog."

"First these jackets were falsely advertised as faux fur, and then it turned out that the fur came from a type of dog," said Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States.

Pacelle added that the issue is an "industry-wide problem" and its investigation demonstrated that retailers and designers "aren't paying close enough attention to the fur trim they are selling." He added that the issue is especially problematic when "the fur is sourced from China where domestic dogs and cats and raccoon dogs are killed in gruesome ways."

I won't comment further, because it's kind of gross.
I am a cookie-arian: I eat nothing but cookies.
Merry Christmas, undergroundpanther!

on edit: I also eat the by-products of alcohol-producing micro-organisms.
edit #2: Drink! I meant "drink"!

2. What about P-Diddy?
Or whatever he calls himself these days? Wasn't this his "line" of products? Saturday Night Live had a funny cartoon about him a couple of weeks ago, with some kids trying to find out what talent he has, or what his profession is.

4. Yeah it was his line
I saw him on the news commenting about it. Diddy said he didn't know and was glad that the Humane Association had brought it to his attention.

3. Not that it changes anything but, evidently, raccoon dogs aren't really dogs.

14. They are members of the dog family "Canidae", along with wolves
and some others, although they are not "true dogs" in the household pet sense.
My screen name, "tanuki", is the Japanese name for this beloved creature. They are prominent figures in Japanese folklore, where they are characterized as mischievous, shape-shifting tricksters.

5. It was a mistake
It's been fixed. Macy's did the right thing, why not give them a pat on the back.

7. This whole thing is disgusting,
but I'm with you. At least Macy's had the decency to pull them from the shelves when they found out it wasn't really faux fur.

8. As much as I hate Macy's
they did do the right thing by pulling it off the shelves. Shame on that manufacturer.

9. It's like they say
I'm not sure who "they" are, but they say "there's a little bad in the best of us and a little good in the worst of us." I tend to agree with that, except for Ken Lay. They should reanimate him and make him serve life in Atlanta Federal Penitentiary.

22. True, but you'd think those over-priced buyers at Macy's would
know faux fur from real fur. I mean, aren't they supposed to be trained in the art of knowing fabrics, furs and wools?

15. Because people aren't logical at heart.
Lots of vegetarians are driving around in cars with leather seats. Some animals we can eat, others can only be pets. I guess we can't demand consistency from people, though. Consistency is often labeled fanaticism.

13. I'm thinking that knowing the fur came from
dogs might even turn off the "I don't care I love fur" set. A good campaign that would encourage folks like this NOT to buy fur would be to ask, "Are you sure it's not Fido Fur?"

17. I don't buy Chinese stuff. Because of their absolutely awful
animal and human rights abuses. And I won't take a chance on even buying anything fake fur. This deal with dog fur on jackets has happened before.

18. I try not to buy Chinese made either
but I'm thinking the "Fido Fur" campaign might dissuade those who don't care.

21. I have to give Macy's credit.
They sell a LOT more faux-fur items these days. I'd love to see them continue the trend and drop the rest of their collection containing fur of any kind.
