Christmas, the birth of Jesus - my Liberal interpretation for the holidays
In a world where so much seemed so wrong, something had to give. One could find ways to equate Rome with the US, which may help in understanding the tie-in between then and now (with respect to my rambling here).

In a world dominated by men, war, slavery, and so on hope was delivered. By a woman. She was a virgin, which one can see as meaning that which she carried was not tainted of the ills of the leaders of this world - she was pregnant with an ideal.

The old ways of the world - an eye for an eye, had their place at one time - back when mankind was less intelligent and more focused on brutal survival. But things progress. Things change.

And in order for things to progress, a progressive needed to be heard.

No room in the inn. Too poor to get into the Hilton as it were. Not the right race of people in the world either, the romans ruled the day. Joseph and Mary were not the right class or type of people.

And yet - hope that day was born for all. A new chapter in the world was to be written. Like the chapters of old and the Jews, those who would come to know it would also, at times, be the worst practitioners of it. They would forget the core message, and leave it for something easier that made sense to them.

A child was born, who would become a man like no other. A man who came solely from the flesh of a woman, and the spirit of Love.

He taught love of others. He healed the sick without insurance. He taught that the way forward was sacrifice now, and reward later - for the good of all. He showed us that the poor were not to be despised, and the sick and those in jail were to be loved.

And those that did not follow this liberal course of life were not true followers, and would perish. For the Lord makes the sun to shine on the good and evil. Freely we have been given this life and our blessings, and freely we should give such to others.

Real power was shown to be within us, and that we all were important and worthwhile. No matter how much money you have, you too will die - use your life to help your fellow human. Come together, worship, and form churches where you can bond and help grow the ideals of love and peace.

And like others before and since - he was killed for his ideals. But he and his ideals would not be kept down. You can kill the messenger - but you can never kill the message when it is based in truth.

God is love. We are told to forgive others. To help the least among us. To do unto others as we would they do unto us. Peace to all - if they will listen and put down their arms.

Yes - the end is near. Because we have not heeded the message of peace and love. We have rejected it in favor of war and money. We have rejected it and created a new Jesus to fit mankinds lustful desires of power and war.

So this Christmas, as I sit and open gifts with the family, I will remember the gift given so long ago to humankind. A message, a hope, a desire to see us do better for each other.

I have always contended that the greatest sin was selfishness, and I really don't think I am far off on that. We don't see beyond our own selves and our lives here - we destroy the environment, we war with people over oil, we act like the romans did some 2000 years ago.

On this day a child was born. On this day an ideal was brought into a dark world. And those who light the candles of love each day are the true disciples of that message.

What would Jesus do? He would see deeper than the RW freaks and understand people, forgive them, and help them.

True love is the ability to see clearly, and look beyond the judgmental attitudes so many now hold.

I don't know the path you have walked, but I know it has affected you in life - and I cannot judge your path by my own. Some do. And they are blind.

1. As a Christian, I think that most of what you said needed to be
said, it's us talking aloud. It just burns me up what these so called Christians live and preach.

My only disagreement with you, is about the end is near! It maybe or may not be, it's been fore casted so many times you will get dizzier than me giving my parrot a few turns on the swivel chair, she loves it and I get so sick, it's my treat to her.

When she says "Wanna go whew?", I have to dig down to get the strength to be nauseous for a few minutes, but, her amazement at the spinning world is refreshing.

I wish you and the family a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

My old name here was Clinton_Convert, I think I just saw the light a little earlier and thanks for your great posts!
