Any bets on what Gates is going to report to Bush tomorrow?
The Baker Commission and the Joint Chiefs are saying to start pulling out, so I'm guessing that Gates will tell Bush to escalate. Bush will love hearing that.

4. He's going to say, attack Iran while you can.

Then in public, he will tell George to measure our forces and look for a timetable to withdraw.

Gates is a bad as they get, Negroponte has nothing on the man when it comes to breaking the law.

We better watch this guy closely.

7. Massacre Mahdi Army and/or Iran
Or else Saudis are gonna take away the candy jar. Take out Iran and we can kill two birds with one stone. Flowers and chocolates for everyone.

What they say and do are two different things. If Dems force them to withdraw they will beat us over the head with it for the next 50 years and blame us for all our nation's future energy woes.

10. Bush has found his cover
When Gates sat down with some low level military in Iraq and many said more troops would help, that gave Bush all the cover he wants to send more young Americans to their death. This guy wants to be remembered as a winner so he is pulling out all the stops to look good in Iraq. Sadly, the only thing more troops on the ground will do is give the insurgents more targets.

Bush will always be remembered as the "WAR PRESIDENT."

11. I guess Bush would rather take stategy advice from regular troops than
his commanding generals. At least as long as they are telling him what he wants to hear.
