1. yeah, and since they aren't really trials, but pre-ordained dispensations
it seems like a bit of a waste, no?

3. Sorry, is there a link?
I haven't read this, although I don't doubt the info. It'll likely cost at least half as much again before it's completed. Another disgusting waste of taxpayer money.

4. CBS News...this morning.
"The U.S. government already has a courthouse at Guantanamo Bay, but the Pentagon isn't satisfied, Sharyl Attkisson reports. It plans to spend $100 million in tax dollars to build a huge new facility just down the hill."

5. Thanks
The Pentagon isn't satisfied with the current courthouse? Must not have enough kangaroos for their taste.

6. More info here at ACLU letter to Senate to block construction:

I couldn't believe my ears when I heard CBS this morning. According to them, this is necessary to try 60 (that's right, sixty) suspected terrorists. There will be room to sleep 1200 people in the building, also. This is all needed for observers and reporters so they can have transparency in these trials.

9. I understand that the bulk of the money is not for construction, per se,
rather the care and feeding of the kangaroos, painting the stars on the ceiling, and hiring the actors who will play witnesses...

:sarcasm:

Why not have it in their cells and let the world see how they are treated?
