ways i think Iraq is just like Vietnam

people at home act like there is no war. partying and laughing away.

there are no front lines. we take ground and then give it up. our military operates inside various size perimeters, everything outside the perimeter is hostile.

the citizens of Iraq become insurgents like the Vietnamese did when we killed there loved ones. they became the v c .

in Nam we had agent orange, in Iraq we use depleted uranium and tell the troops it is good for them?

as in Vietnam our neocon leaders had no idea of the cultures in Iraq.

the neocons still think bombing can win a war as in the mission accomplished banner. the neocons truly thought the war was over then. none of them served in war so this is how they thought. veterans knew better.

veterans are returning home with ptsd, feel distant from the people, become homeless and have a high suicide rate. turn to alcohol and drugs.

during vietnam we thought we could win a guerilla war too.

the government of Vietnam was protected in Saigon, the government in Iraq is protected in the green zone.
