Reid wouldn't answer the simplest question
Harry was on Stephanopolis today. He never answered a question in a straight-forward manner. It was just a bunch of spin about Iraq.

Then, Stephanopolis asked, is Johnson conscious. He wouldn't answer that either. Said, I'm not a doctor.

More politics as usual..

3. You're right = he's not. It wasn't just that - it was his whole
demeanor on the interview. More of the same. Nothing direct - just a bunch of
platitudes. Complete waste of time for those watching because he never said anything. Unlike Kennedy on Fox - he was great - said he would never, ever stop fighting for the middle class and health insurance for all.

2. Why do you think he was being evasive?
Maybe he didn't want to tip his hand about what's coming in the new congress though I'm not sure what the point of going on the show is if you don't intend to answer any questions.

5. Yep. think it could do more damage - from the point of view of
the general public - when dems go out there and don't say anything.

8. Dean's the only strait talking politician I've ever known.
Gore is close to strait talking, especially after 2000.

7. Not answering re: Johnson.... I find this perfectly appropriate..
Consciousness is a complicated matter here and without having the medical expertise to provide follow-up explanation and comprehensive discussion, he shouldn't address it--not to mention that this is a family privacy issue as well. He rightfully deferred such questions to the family.

9. Reid sucks
Obama should have gone up against him for majority leader, I think part of taking back congress would have been to have new faces, but such is life.

13. Unfortunately, I think a lot of DEms are going to be highly disappointed
with this new majority.

I think a lot of Independents and "swing" voters will find themselves feeling almost as much disgust and distrust of Dems.

I'm afraid it won't be pretty.

15. I wish they would ALL just stay OFF those stupid "shows"
Those dumb shows are just "gotcha-fests". The "moderators" are only interested in tripping people up, so they have "the tape" to re run every time the guests come back, or when their opponents show up.

These "shows" are in NO WAY ,"news programming".. They are just propaganda markets.

17. What a gigantic load of bullshit
Holy crap. People around here need to clean their damned ears out.

"If it's part of a program to get us out" Funny how nobody mentions that little detail. I disagree with this whole surge nonsense, but Reid is NOT supporting Bush's endless war by considering the generals' recommendations on this surge.

And as to Johnson, jesus christ you couldn't be more wrong. How many times did he say the doctors said Johnson should be fine. He's doing well, he's getting better - said it over and over. There was no spin about it at all.

Maybe your time would be better spent putting the Republicans under the same magnifying glass you've got the Dems under.
