"Will The Chad Castagna Case Self-Destruct?" (Threatening Letter Freeper's Not Guilty Plea)
From blogger:

http://gaelicstarover.blogspot.com/2006/12/will-castagana-case-self-destruct.html

Will the Castagana Case Self-Destruct?

…from KNX1070:

"A Woodland Hills man who allegedly sent letters containing white powder to Jon Stewart, David Letterman and incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, among others, pleaded not guilty today to charges of mailing threats."

- snip -

4.) The Castagana case does not serve the interests of the Dubya Administration, as it cannot be exploited for its foreign policy objectives. Rather, it distracts and dilutes the public focus intended for "Islamic" terror.

5.) It casts light on some of the demography, tactics and psychological makeup of the Bushling’s base, the foot-soldiers in the heroic “battle of ideas”.

- snip -

7.) And again, where the hell is the mug shot?

I really wish that Keith Olbermann would address these points.

1. Meanwhile...
1,200 hard working immigrant meat packers have been carted off to an undisclosed secret prison
for the crime of wanting a job.

Charges against the Swift company... ZERO.

Yet, Castagana is allowed to remain in his Mother's basement on the "But, *I* knew the gun
wasn't loaded" defense.

WTF?

Is there no justice?

2. Good points...
Surely there must be an intrepid cell phone owner somewhere who could give us a snap of this freak. The public safety demands it.

These two stories stand before us to prove that any illusions of a "new wind" blowing through the media is just so much baloney. Anything even remotely not pro-rightwing crazy is ignored.

3. Poor baby
Castagana’s public defender, Alicia Blanco, argued during a bail hearing last month that the alleged acts were unusual for her client, who she said has no criminal history. The letters were sent after Castagana’s mother had a heart attack and had to temporarily move out of the home she shares with her son, who suffers from depression, Blanco said.

Such actions are unusual for anybody, aren't they?

He suffers from depression? So does a significant percentage of all Americans. Somehow they keep themselves from committing acts of terrorism.

His Mommy had a heart attack.

Hell, I'd be depressed too if I were looking at 70 years and my lawyer was a public defender.

4. Who is she kidding. He thought up an idea, targeted mulitiple
individuals, put together correspondances, looked up addresses then had the audacity to buy stamps for each. It didn't stop there, he put those terrorizing letters into the Unites States Postal Service to be delivered to each victim.

This was a very thoughtout crime from a criminal looking to instill fear in others for his own deranged purposes. He should be held accountable. Period.

I wonder if he has any concerns about the Patriot Act now.

8. This is unusual...
I did a google image search for "Chad Castagna, and got zero hits. Even when I google my own name, I get at least a few pages of false positives.

13. Nothing there either
Nada...zilch. Spelling it correctly adds no change to a fruitless (not even false hits) search.

12. Looked myself
Nothing. Either a complete social outcast (as it appears) with little/no real friends or work history or someone did some 'cleaning'. Curious, non?

14. As I recall

A neighbor of his described him as a loner that constantly talks to himself - as if he were carrying on a conversation with another person. I fear the dude is very probably quite mentally ill.
