A challenge to Rush Limbaugh - Debate me on your show (I know you read here)

Rush,
I have listened to your show for years. At one time I even subscribed to it, mainly so I could catalog your show and track it :)

I was a conservative in many ways for years. I have seen and lived both sides of the aisle.

I could call into your show, but I would rather spend time there as a guest and discuss issues. One on one, from 1-3 hours. On all sorts of topics.

You see Rush, we agree on some things. And that is how I think you fuel the fires of people. You paint the right wing one way over a broad range of things, and attempt to show the left as being defined by a few people on a few issues - then parading that before your audience in an attempt to scare them.

I understand both sides pretty well. Been on both sides myself. I have read your books, listened to your show (still do when I am in the car, but mainly because 610wtvn is my station of choice for 30 years +).

I have argued with conservatives and liberals on the radio since I was 22, and I am 41 now.

And I think, on several things, you are damned wrong.

I first heard about your show when I was a security guard. I was listening a lot to Fred Anderle (A liberal) on WOSU and a friend of mine told me about you. BTW - he is gay, and had he not told me how much he enjoyed your show I probably would not have heard of you till many years later.

I don't make this post in jest either. I was a die hard republican/conservative for many years. But as I have grown I have come to see cracks in the walls, ones which you choose to ignore because the truth is not pleasant to you perhaps.

But I don't want this to go into personal attacks or issues - I just want to talk to you, one on one, and talk about things relevant to today.

So here I am. Have someone on your staff message me, set up a call, and let's go one on one. Lowly me with the 'great communicator'.

I am sure many here would tell me to just forget it, and so on. But I will allow myself to have faith that you really do want liberals to call into your program and discuss things. I just want to take it one step further and spend some real time with you on issues.

1. You could find something more productive to do with your time.

And less painful. Like root canal.

Of course, Limbaugh does not debate. He never has. He spends less than 5 minutes with any dissenting caller, then once they are off the line, he tears into them when they cannot respond.

You wouldn't change his mind on anything, of course. He's far too well-paid to objectively consider reality. Is your goal to change the minds of his listeners?
