Today I gave someone Christmas dinner.
We have a girl of latino decent who sits at our lunch table. She works very hard to understand the language and has latched onto one of my friends who also speaks spanish. She gives off the aura of someone who comes from a family who mostly speaks spanish at home.

So we were talking and stuff about Christmas. We got on the subject of dinner and she began pushing her food around on her tray. I knew something was up so I asked her what was the matter. Turns out, as she told me in heavily accented spanglish that her family doesn't really have any money for food. Then it got quiet, and she blushed the darkest violet. I felt really sad. Then I went to class.

Today we had a drawing at school that gave away 55 frozen turkeys in honor of christmas (Why, I don't know). My name was called at number 37 and I walked down to get a twelve pound turkey bought from the grocery store in the common hall. I lugged it back up to my math class. And there she was, sitting in her seat. I walked over, plopped it down, said 'Merry Christmas', and walked off.

I don't need any presents now. The hug and the smile I got from her afterward was enough.

6. What you did today honey, is truly the spirit of Christmas and all
the other religious observances of the season.

Be proud of yourself for your act of kindness and giving.

I don't have any children of my own, but if you were mine, you'd get the biggest and hardest hug I could give.
