Republican C-SPAN caller: I want Al Gore to run!
She said, she couldn't believe she was saying this, but she doesn't really like any of the R candidates. Had voted for McCain against * in 2000, but called in today after another caller had said Mccain was strong AGAINST torture. She spoke knowledgably of McCain's capitulation, the signing statements, etc.

She said she's inspired by Obama, but wants competence.

Bet a lot of voters would like a do-over.

1. She wants competence AND Gore?
She can only get one or the other.

4. Hardly. We know you hate him but there is no doubt he is extremely

competent.

You can be for any other candidate and still acknowledge that.

You can think he wouldn't be the best potential Dem candidate without spouting bull.

There are reasonable arguments against having him be the Dem candidate but you undercut your credibility with your personal animus toward him.

It is nothing new from you.

6. hmmm...
Every time Al Gore is mentioned in a thread, you show up with a drive-by insult. You don't bother to explain the disparaging things you say about him, you don't offer examples to illustrate your opinion; all you do is throw out a nasty one-or-two line remark.

Just what do you dislike about Al Gore and why? Do you have any intelligent, thoughtful reasoning for your opinion or are you simply here to be an irritant?

2. He absolutely
could walk away with the whole shebang. History will judge this time as a pivotal point for the United States. I'm not a fan of recruiting candidates but these are desperate times and we MUST have a strong, experienced leader. Virtually none of the sad lot currently being thrust upon us are up to the task -- Clark, though I am NOT a supporter, would be the only other possibility.

3. I heard her. She said she had voted for McCain in 2000 but now
he is headed the same way as Bush and she wouldn't vote for him in 2008.

She said "I can't believe I'm saying this but I want Al Gore to run". Then she talked about how she didn't like any Repub candidate, Obama was inspirational but she was worried about experience and then she ended by again saying - I want Al Gore to run.

7. And she was a REAL Republican - disillusioned, and ripe for our new "big-tent
let's fix America" Democratic Party.

There are millions of them out there.

5. Al Gore is the logical choice for Dem Presidential Candidate in 2008......
HE has already WON the Presidency in 2000, which was THEN stolen from HIM AND the ENVIRONMENT is in serious trouble; 'WE' need a President that will focus on saving the earth from its destructive and irresponsible human populations. Don't YOU ever wonder what it might be like to have a reasonable intelligent President.

9. Gore won in 2000. We all know that. And
we sure as heck would not be in Iraq now if he had been seated. I don't understand the animosity some feel toward Gore.

14. Conservation is a strong issue for us
and whether it be Gore or someone else we need to make our 2008 candidate the "Environmental Candidate". There are some conservatives and more importantly, many Independents who are concerned about the environment. We also have to sign the Kyoto treaty and get going.
