Was Rumsfeld trying to get Darby killed?
Sixty Minutes is doing a story about perfectly disgusting people who would rather protect torturers than stand for decency. What appalling scum they are.

But they wouldn't have known that Darby blew the whistle if Rumsfeld hadn't announced it publicly. I refuse to believe Rummy was being naive. He wanted the guy who humiliated him and the army dead.

1. Rummy knew EXACTLY what he was doing. That's just the
neocon way.

2. I'm still shaking my head in bewilderment
A WHOLE TOWN of freepers (I mean, come on, let's put in on the table here, that's the mentality we're talking about) so hurt and bothered that security measures dictated that Darby and his wife couldn't go back.

I'm still stunned wondering what goes through a mind like this.

And, prior to the exposure, did this torture/humiliation REALLY tip the scales of victory in our favor??? You'd think that was the case as you listen to the excuse makers.

Unbelievable...

(Kudos to Anderson Cooper, btw, for the story)

3. A person admits to a crime and nothing happens to him.
Rumsfeld Shouldn't be Fired, He Should be Indicted
by Matthew Rothschild

“Secretary Rumsfeld has publicly admitted that . . . he ordered an Iraqi national held in Camp Cropper, a high security detention center in Iraq, to be kept off the prison’s rolls and not presented to the International Committee of the Red Cross,” the report noted. The Geneva Conventions require countries to grant the Red Cross access to all detainees. “

5. Dummy prolly feels that Darby is the main reason he had to resign
under pressure from people who know right from wrong.

6. I would bet that was his intention
because a dead whistle blower would make others think twice before speaking up.

At least Darby's military superiors appear to have protected him.

7. Even my non-political-wonk husband had the same reaction.
Rummy wasn't respecting Darby, he was fingering him.

I find it unconscionable that Darby's family must live in fear because he put the ideals of this nation ahead of blind patriotism.
