Are there any DUers who served in WWII?

I know the chances are probably slim, but ya never know. My old man served in WWII and last time I visited him and my mom, I showed him a couple threads on DU and he said, "It's a good thing that they have that place (meaning DU)." He's in his late 80's, and if his fingers weren't so messed up from arthritis, I think he'd get into posting. If he did, I'm sure he'd ball me out for some of my posts. BTW, he was a captain of his own ship in the Navy during the war, served 6 1/2 years total, hates warmongers and any unjust wars like Vietnam and this Iraq war, and has always been a strong liberal Democrat all his life...with some conservative personal characteristics to go along with him, though.

that have posted in the past. Couldn't name them now, but if you search the Veteran's day threads, or ones that have asked the vets to check in, you may find them.

i'd bet postman, who has now departed, was one.
