An Inconvenient Truth Wins Documentary Award
Edited on Sun Dec-10-06 09:38 AM by RestoreGore
It is good to see Mr. Gore supporting endeavors like this one that have so much more substance to it than GQ awards dinners .

Mr. Gore at IDA Awards.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With every award this movie receives more people hear about the warning of the climate crisis befalling us and hopefully see the hope in working together to mitigate it. This isn't about Al Gore winning. This isn't about running for President, and I believe Davis Guggenheim would say the same thing, as he also stated when the movie was released that Al Gore is not running for that. This is about a moral and spiritual crisis unlike what we have ever seen before that threatens mankind finally seeing the light of day.
And it will be the same should An Inconvenient Truth win the Oscar for best documentary. I don't know why so many see a political link to winning an Oscar in regards to announcing such a thing. Did they expect Michael Moore to announce he was running for anything when his movie Fahrenheit 911 won the award? I don't understand why some only root for it to win because they think Al Gore is going to announce he is running for President... And yes, some are doing that.
Firstly, he isn't up for an Oscar, the movie and the producers will be should it make the short list and be announced next month. Secondly, if anyone did do that it surely would go over their acceptance time limit and they would be drowned out by music and given the hook. Thirdly, it would be incredibly tacky to do it at that time. And lastly, for anyone to think Mr. Gore would use the acceptance time of his producers and this movie to talk about himself doesn't know him at all.
Frankly, all of this obsession with 2008 rather than the substance of it everytime this movie wins an award, or anytime Al Gore opens his mouth to talk about what he really wants to talk about now can kill momentum for discussing the real issue at hand here: The fate of our planet and what WE can and must do now to make sure our children have a sustainable planet on which to live. That is the message here.
Congratulations to all involved in An Inconvenient Truth. Any award this movie wins is well deserved, and Al Gore should be allowed to revel in that based on the merits of the movie without feeling any guilt otherwise. Let us also hope the message in it is seen in its pure form now without too much unsubstantiated political speculation decaying its message and hindering the progress we now must make on every level starting with our own lives. Our children are depending on us to hear that message now rather than all the noise trying to drown it out at this crucial time.
Other honors this important movie has received:
The Humanitas Prize
The Clarion Award
The Quill Award (book)
The Stanley Kramer Award
Al Gore and the producers were also honored recently by the California League of Conservation Voters.
2. You can order it through Amazon.... link...
It is also at Target, and :::shudder::: WALMART, and I think someone told me they even saw it at Costco, though I am not sure. If anyone has purchased it elsewhere maybe they will respond regarding that. But if you don't want to go out to buy it you can purchase it from Amazon although it may take a couple of weeks to get there. I just received mine and am happy because i can now send out my DVDs as donations to go out to the university, high school, and public library. Thanks for asking.
info about where to purchase! Target or Amazon i guess. I posted another thread re: political books and/or DVD's for Christmas gifts, and of course Inconvenient Truth is on my list as #1 choice, but so far it has received no response. Do you have any other suggestions?
Nonplussed by World Events? . . . We are, too . . .
"... one way for us to end up being viewed as the ugly American is for us to go around the world saying, we do it this way, so should you. Now, we trust freedom. We know freedom is a powerful, powerful, powerful force, much bigger than the United States of America,... I think the United States must be humble and must be proud and confident of our values, but humble in how we treat nations that are figuring out how to chart their own course."
8. I got mine at Costco
Since it wasn't in one of those long CD packages meant to deter theft, I had to fill out a little form and pay for it at the register. Then they got a copy from the storeroom. It comes in a thin cardboard package.
5. Now just watch this news drop like a lead balloon...
Edited on Sun Dec-10-06 09:27 AM by RestoreGore
because there is no unsubstantiated political gossip attached to it to spice it up for people. However, post REAL news about this movie and it is basically ignored. I think it speaks volumes to me about what people on the whole really want to talk about, and I think that in and of itself will in the end make up Mr. Gore's mind on that other topic.
11. I would like to see Gore restored to his rightful position as
POTUS too, RestoreGore! Just imagine what the world would be like today, if SCOTUS hadn't prostituted their santity of office with political preference! This is an historical fact that should place blame on the supreme Court decision in the Florida recounts, and that began the erosion of what we hold dear in this country. That was the first real whiff of evil that I had about this current administration...the SCOTUS decided not too allow democratic representation of it's people who supposedly represent a democracy!
13. That is how it should have been...
Edited on Sun Dec-10-06 09:48 AM by RestoreGore
And why I have this handle. I and a small group tried to see that "restoration" come to pass, but we were called crackpots. Go figure. Anyhow, you are correct in that he should have been "restored." There is no need to draft a winner. A winner takes his place, and if people weren't willing to fight for what was only right in that vein because it was harder to do, well then, why should he not move on? And I do not believe he wants to deal with all of that rhetoric now as he is very fulfilled in his life doing this important work for the entire world. He is standing up for our children and our planet and asking us to stand with him, and I can't see anything more important than that now. The past is a hard reality to accept, but I too have learned a great deal from it, grown because of it, and moved on with him. And while apprehensive about the future, I am actually more hopeful because he is on our side now. Thanks again.
