Predictions you made about bush that came true.
I have several, apparently I am a psychic. I predicted that we would be in a war within a year of his 'taking' office. I predicted that he'd kiss the Christian conservative's butts for votes, and then abandon them utterly.

I also predicted that he'd oversee the biggest gang of outright thieves to ever rob the treasury, and they'd loot us blind till the last penney is gone.

At the height of his nine eleven induced popularity I boldly predicted that he would fall to the depths of shame and dishonor again, lower than any president before him, and that he would be our worst president ever.

And I amazingly predicted that the ship of state would hit an iceberg and nothing but disaster would come from the white house, and that our very constitution and bill of rights would be threatened and that the nation would be brought to it's knees economically, and spiritually.

What astoundingly accurate predictions did you make oh great soothsayers of DU?

That he'd be the MFing fuck-up who would fuck up everything & anything he touched, just as he'd fucked up everything & anything he'd touched his entire useless fuck-up of a life.

And he didn't let me down.

This guy is a major CON-srtist. Saw that in 1999. He raised the hairs on the back of my neck then.

Six years later, my intuition was right all along.

31. Me, too. The first time I saw him, during the campaign, the hair went
up on the back of MY neck, too. I can remember it so clearly. I looked at him and thought "uh-oh. Here's trouble." Didn't really know why, or what kind of trouble. I just got this really strong sense that there would be trouble, and plenty of it.

At the moment, I can also say I've been predicting and pushing for IMPEACHMENT for a long time now. I've been reminding people about how one of these days, enough of his own people will turn on him that he will HAVE to leave. They'll figure out some face-saving way, or path of least pain - for him anyway. The way Goldwater and friends did with Nixon - going to him, finally, once Watergate had grown serious enough, and told him he'd lost ALL support, he WOULD be impeached, and that his best option at that point was to bail. Which he did, announcing his resignation the next day. I think a latter-day version of that is coming, and maybe sooner than later, depending on just how in-yer-face arrogant and pig-headed he is about the Iraq Study Group report. If he pisses off enough of the rest of the people, and Iraq continues to grow more hideous by the day, I'd be surprised if we had to wait as long as 1/20/09. And there's enough bad blood over cheney to expect that he wouldn't have an easy time of it, either. We NEED IMPEACHMENT. We just need it. We need a really strong, hard slap in the face to these people to shock them into attention. We NEED the ultimate accountability. And we need it SOONER than later.

Last Friday, when I watched "Countdown" and saw how much time they gave, at the top, to Republican Senator Gordon Smith of Oregon - and his extensive remarks about how he just couldn't get with the program any longer, how he'd tried so hard and for so long to be a "good soldier" to bush and just couldn't do it anymore - that's when I started feeling really upbeat. I think THAT Gordon Smith speech was the beginning of the end. Because he stepped up, other more timid folks on his side of the aisle, and others who still maybe minimally cling to fantasy among our people, will start to come out of their stupor, or feel as though maybe it's a little safer now to stick their own necks out a little on this. That was a blow for liberty. His Patrick Henry moment. His own personal 9/11.

1) He would lose to Ann Richards.
2) He'd never be reelected governor.
3) No way he'd get the nomination for President.
4) He'd lose big time to Al Gore.
5) In 04 - surely by now the scales would fall from the eyes of the people.

I knew that he would screw up everything he touched, but that's not predicting since his whole history is one hugh moranic cluster-fuck that his family would extracate him from before the cops come.

On edit- Well actually I got 4 and 5 right.

I thought Gore would win too, then I thought the re count was for Gore, then I thought the supreme court would save us.

Then I thought Kerry would win the debates in 04 and then win the election. Way off base there.

34. Sigh, neither did mine
(Dec. 2000) After coming into office on a questionable Supreme Court decision and a microscopically thin margin in Florida, after losing the popular vote and with a divided Senate, Bush would realize that he holds power precariously and will build a coalition across parties to minimize the divisiveness the post-election confusion caused.

I, too, thought he'd lose big to Kerry. So much for my psychic abilities.

6. War in Iraq
made this prediction during the 2000 campaigns:

If bush become president - we will be going to war with Iraq based on some premises of Iraq being a threat. Probably some link to terrorism will be used as a justification

Other predictions:

- country would grow more divided and eventually unite against Bush (we are pretty much there)

- economy would suck

- gas/fuel prices would sky-rocket

- Canada would close it's borders as Americans seek to immigrate (legally or illegally). While the border closing hasn't happened, it's interesting to not that after the 2004 election the Canadian website for immigration applications/information was receiving over 1-million hits a day for about a month)

50. I had the same answer...
Right after he was selected, I called into my local rag's "talkback" line: supposedly, one calls in a leaves a message which then gets printed in an ensuing edition. So after the Supreme Court debacle was finalized, I called in a left this simple message:

Another Bush...another war...

It was never published.

16. Death, Destruction, Chaos, Crime....and that was when he Stole the Election...
Only thing I and others were wrong on was that he would be voted out in 2004 and that the Mid-Terms of 2002 would return the House and Senate to Dems. Big mistake was thinking the American People would rise up and that even the Repugs would realize what he did by if not 2002 certainly by '04.

He stole an election and installed a crime family that went back to Nixon.
So, maybe it was just some of us who are older and had watched them knew...but it's amazing how many youngies had that same feeling about him back in 2001.

He has surpassed all predictions though in the massiveness of his destruction. :-(

18. OMG. Where to begin? What have I correctly predicted about Bushler?
Edited on Sun Dec-10-06 11:29 AM by tom_paine
Every one of these that follows was predicted well before the actual event happened

Do I occasionaly get things wrong? Of course, but because Bushler is so Totalitarian in nature, he is easily predictable. I and many other DUers are not prophets because of our seemingly amazing powers to predict the future (I myself have enjoyed a roughly 80-20% or higher correctly predictive rating, as it were and I will bet many DUers can boast of scores equally as impressive).

So, here they are, and I may have forgotten a few.

Upon stealing the 2000 election, I said he would hurl off his phony mask of moderation (which allowed him to get it close enough to steal) so fast it would make your head spin revealing an uber Right Winger.

I predicted there would be, at MOST, only the tiniest fraction of what the Busheviks claimed WMDs in Iraq.

I predicted Bush was set on going into Iraq no matter what the inspectors found. It was a sham.

I predicted Colon Foul's presentation would be proven as the biggest tissue of lies (he showed DRAWINGS, for God's sake!) since Khruschev pounded his shoe or Ribbentrop announced the invasion of Poland to the League of Nations.

I predicted the Busheviks would openly stonewall the 9/11 Commission in such a way that would make Watergate seem like Kindergarten. Who could have predicted the specific Orwellian detail of Bush and Cheney being permitted to testify TOGETHER and NOT UNDER OATH?

I predicted torture and rape would swiftly return to post-Saddam Iraq...I will admit I would have never guessed it would be AMERICANS doing the torturing, as we continue to do to this day.

I predicted the Bushevik Right-Wing Anthrax Mailer who killed a dozen, I think, and terrorized a nations for months, would go free.

I predicted Bin Laden would and will never be captured by Busheviks (maybe by a Dem Admin) and while I admit I have occasionally and foolishly wavered from it, I gave it originally as a prediction/prophesy and I will stand behind it even if they capture him tomorrow I will then say I was wrong.

I predicted the Double October Surprise of 2004 (Bush-Bin Laden Campaign video and "American al-Quaeda" video *registered trademark, CIA Productions, released 10/30/2004, two days before the third stolen election).

I predicted Bush would continue working on total information awareness, the terrorist futures market, and everything else Congress told him no on, and there were damned few of those.

I predicted, with every scandal that we DUers went crazy over, from DSM to Plame, that the Busheviks would use their intimidation powers & their Sub-Media Lie Laundry to ignore lie, get caight lie, ignore, lie, move on, lie, repeat, repeat... to walk away scot free, which up until now they largely have. They may still walk away largely scot-free to their no extradition Paraguay fortress with their stolen trillions. "I'll believe it when I see it" has and will continue to be my position on justice for the Imperial Family criminals.

I predicted long ago that Russia and China would gang up against us. Google CSTO.

I predicted that once Putin saw that the Bushlers had so little respect for the democratic-republic model of free elections Russia was striving unsuccessfully towards, he would unleash his "inner KGB" and revert to a more BushPutinist State. (I predicted this after the soulmate commentary of 2001...be glad we are Americans under Bushler and not Russian under Bushler, in which he would likely behave the same or worse as Putin is now).

There's more, many more...many of them documented on DU as are the 20% or so I got wrong. I want to get back to the unpredictable and turbulent sea of freedom, whcih has been six years absent from America. 12-12 was the date which changed everything, not 9-11.

I am glad to say I was wrong about the Not-So-Stolen Election of 2006 and we Americans having to go to the mat for freedom, Tiennamen Square style.

I am glad to say T was wrong in that the System of Checks and Balances is not as endangered as I first thought.

Etc.

Economically, Politically, Socially, Spiritually and completely trash our reputation with the rest of the world.

I wrote an article about it for a writing class about 4 years ago and everybody thought I was being too extreme. And this is in NYC. Nobody in the class really liked him, but the one thing they kept saying was "seriously, how much damage can he do?"

I feel my article has been sufficiently vindicated in light of the events of the past few years.
