Anyone listening to Scott Thurow on Maddow now?
He's saying he thinks Scalia will be a strong civil liberties type. Says he took the right side in Hamdi and an earlier ruling of some kind on Jose Padilla. How'd I miss that?

1. And he overturned the flag burning law...
he's ok for all non-religious stuff, when it relates to free speech or in general liberties.

3. Whaddya know?
I had no idea. This is very good to hear. I don't suppose Clarence What-Scalia-Said Thomas goes along with him on those cases.

6. Actually, if I recall correctly, I think Thomas dissented...
against Scalia on one of these cases involving detainees.

Scalia would be a good justice he wouldn't let his religion interfere with his decisions. He's against women's rights and the rights of same sex couples because of his religion.

And that's what makes him the most fucked up justice. However, if he would be completely for everyone's rights, then his style is correct.

4. Hmmm
I think he said Scalia. Was Alito on the Court when Hamdi was heard?

I'll take anyone I can get.

5. Sorry, I turned on Rachel after I saw your post.
The statement just didn't read quite right to me -- I was thinking that Scalia would have a long record and that the person you heard on the radio was sounding more as if he was predicting what would be true of someone who hadn't been on SCOTUS long.

7. No, it's probably about Scalia...
Alito is a right-wing conservative, just like Roberts and Thomas.
