They will also have the Power to grant immunity to those willing to talk.

And my guess is there are going to be some real talkative people in DC real soon.

Won't be able to shut them up is my guess.

I bet some are talking already. If they know whats good for them they are. Scooter Libby, looking at 30 years and with a young wife and kids is NOT going to wait to see if Bush is president long enough to give him a pardon either. I bet his lawyer has already contacted Fitzgerald's office about this. He won't wait until his testimony is worthless to Fitzgerald. First snitch laughs last in this game.

2. Umm... actually they can't
That's one basis of the separation of powers: Congress can't do anything to keep a prosecutor (part of the Executive) away from somebody. The restrictions on ex post facto laws and bills of attainder don't just work in the accuseds' benefit; they also protect the Executive from Congress's limiting its prosecutorial powers. Congress can (and often does) protect the actual testimony from being used by prosecutors (so for example the baseball players who talked about steroid use can't have that testimony used as evidence against them), but the simple fact is if someone pisses off the Executive enough, Congress can't do anything to keep a prosecutor away from them.

3. Good point!
This administration , as reflected in the recent statements by the GAO administrator, don't really like whistleblowers...actually calls them 'terrorists'. Well, those that have profited by the institutional corruptness should be terrified. I'll be interested in what kind of parliamentary maneuvers the Republicans employ to obstruct the coming investigations.
