Bush FLIP FLOPS AGAIN on Oil...takes Al Gore's ideas from 2000?
"We can have a next-stage prosperity where you don't have to build your lives around a fuel source that is distant, uncertain and easily manipulated. We will demand and develop new technologies to free ourselves from gas-tank price-gouging, and we will sell those technologies to the world. We'll build a new generation of fuel-efficient vehicles -- and then make it easy for families to afford them." - AL GORE, June 2000

"The only way to become less dependent on foreign sources of crude oil is to explore at home." - George Bush, Oct. 3, 2000

Bush tonight:

"America is addicted to oil, which is often imported from unstable parts of the world... The best way to break this addiction is through technology."

4. Will the Dems mention this?
Doubtful. I'm sure Hillary is push polling tonight to get JUST the right MODERATE response.

6. Well, I gave you a recommendation, because I think it's time for
the American people to see that it took Bush five years to figure out that Gore was on the right track.

Can you imagine all the pain and suffering that would have been avoided if Gore had been president?

Kicked and recommended.

9. I agree...
I wonder how many Americans will get that message tonight?

I'm guessing the Corporate media will hail Bush's "idea" for new technology to overcome the high costs of oil.

2. Not like he means it.
Re: the drinking game. What if you drink every time George tells a lie? And if you have a delicate tummy, drink every time he tells the truth?

3. And repugs laughed at Gore when he said it.
Edited on Tue Jan-31-06 08:17 PM by louis-t
Big, loud, condescending guffaws. Then they said he was insane and hated the combustion engine because his daughter was hit by a car. They said no one wanted hybrid cars. Why are repugs always so wrong?

8. Recommend this. I think we have some meat on our new flip-flopping
Bush. Many people don't remember the boisterous Libertarian style President who wanted to do what he wanted to do because he wanted to do it.

11. Of course not. But he just gave us a wedge.
Edited on Tue Jan-31-06 08:28 PM by The Backlash Cometh
Because Gore is eons ahead of him. If he comes out now with a plan, it will give the next presidential hopeful two years to say, "Hey, Gore laid out a plan, 2 years ago, where is your plan?"

Boss, boss, A plan, a plan. That's what has been missing from the Democratic party. In a certain way, their luminaries were ahead of their times. Now is the time for them to strike because everything they warned the American people about, is coming true.

16. Gee, that sounds strangely familiar...
If he says "we can't drill our way out of dependency on oil, we have to invent our way out", I'm going to throw something through the TV.

I can't keep track. Is it time to use one of Gore's ideas or one of Kerry's?

23. Actually I think he was reading my blog-post on brainshrub.com

www.brainshrub.com/methanol-now

Actually folks the way this works (both Democrat President and Republican) is round about October they hire a pollster to conduct focus groups with voters and find out what's p*ssing them off. They have the focus groups, analyze the results and send reports to the White House about Christmas and the White House speechwriters write up speeches to tell us what they think we want to hear to prop up the Presidential poll numbers in January on the SOU day.

So let's work backwards to October of last year shall we?... Well last October we were paying over $3.00/gallon for gas because of the Katrina disaster and Bush's ill preparedness (as usual). As a result the voters were mad about gas, they said so in the focus groups and the pollsters wrote that in their reports and then the speechwriters wrote it into the speech for proper lip-service by Bush tonight.

I don't really believe that Bush believes what he said tonight about energy independence? Do you? It was all to placate the voters and the lag in the issue vs. the response is predictable as clock work considering gas prices are back down for the winter/spring but will soon be heading back up again as hurricane season will be returning soon and saber rattling continues with Iran, Syria and North Korea and the Iraq situation is still a disaster.
