My crusades
Edited on Fri Dec-01-06 12:34 AM by Mythsaje
Those who have followed my posts (and I haven't the faintest idea how many of you there are) know my two big targets are the the Big Media and Corporate Personhood in general. I think corporate personhood is one of the most dangerous precedents ever set in our legal system. The whole notion that an artificial construct such as a corporation could be a "person" is just nonsense.

I, like many here, have attacked Big Media on a regular basis. They've abandoned their post as guardians of the public trust, and they should never, ever, be allowed to forget it. That's a drum I want to beat all the way until the point they either wake up and change their ways, or slip completely into irrelevancy. Either way I don't mind. I just want the problem repaired.

I think we need to press our new majority to attack corporate personhood, to wipe it from our collective consciousness. I would almost say that this is one of the MOST important tasks we should put in front of them.

We should also come up with a way to promote an outright rebellion against the insidious effects of the media's games--their deliberately slanted questions, their ridiculous assumptions and outright lies. The Dems need to cut them off EVERY time they try to play this game. EVERY fucking time.

I think concentrating on these two targets could be very rewarding. And open up the chance to do so much more as well. Corporate Personhood is a ludicrous concept in the first place. I doubt there are more than a handful of people in the whole country who would disagree with that, if it was actually explained to them what it means. The corporations have made themselves immortal, immune to nearly everything that can harm an actual person, yet think they deserve the same rights.

I don't think so.

:D

Oh...and, if you could, I'd like to ask you all to do me a little favor. It's not much, but I'm trying to drive up my hit count on my website. It won't cost anything but a couple minutes, unless you're intrigued, then it could take considerably more time.

I'd really appreciate the boost.

My grandson's name is Sage, too (but with a "g"). Nice name. :)

3. It's corporate personhood and the subtle propaganda of marketing
...

Yep, they are basically one and the same, but the point is, Americans have their expectations set for them by the movies, tv programs and commercials that they are innundated with from the moment they are born. Some of us see through it all, but many Americans measure their worth, values and life against the marketing machine.

Hit your website, by the way. Congrats on the books!

5. I only crave things that are actually USEFUL to me...
All the media enticements to the contrary.

Pretty soon people are going to start wondering what I want for Christmas. Except, frankly, I can't think of anything I don't already have.

Of course the media has been far beyond tolerable for a very long time, but the issue of corporate personhood has been on my mind a lot lately, less in terms of the media, though that is HUGE, but more in terms of what recourse we have or do not have in terms of their insidious takeover of our voting technology.

I checked out your site and wish you well with it.

I'll check it out again for a more thorough look.

Thanks for your contributions.

best to you and keep it up.
