Those who have followed my posts (and I haven't the faintest idea how many of you there are) know my two big targets are the the Big Media and Corporate Personhood in general. I think corporate personhood is one of the most dangerous precedents ever set in our legal system. The whole notion that an artificial construct such as a corporation could be a "person" is just nonsense.
I, like many here, have attacked Big Media on a regular basis. They've abandoned their post as guardians of the public trust, and they should never, ever, be allowed to forget it. That's a drum I want to beat all the way until the point they either wake up and change their ways, or slip completely into irrelevancy. Either way I don't mind. I just want the problem repaired.
I think we need to press our new majority to attack corporate personhood, to wipe it from our collective consciousness. I would almost say that this is one of the MOST important tasks we should put in front of them.
We should also come up with a way to promote an outright rebellion against the insidious effects of the media's games--their deliberately slanted questions, their ridiculous assumptions and outright lies. The Dems need to cut them off EVERY time they try to play this game. EVERY fucking time.
I think concentrating on these two targets could be very rewarding. And open up the chance to do so much more as well. Corporate Personhood is a ludicrous concept in the first place. I doubt there are more than a handful of people in the whole country who would disagree with that, if it was actually explained to them what it means. The corporations have made themselves immortal, immune to nearly everything that can harm an actual person, yet think they deserve the same rights.
I don't think so.
:D
Oh...and, if you could, I'd like to ask you all to do me a little favor. It's not much, but I'm trying to drive up my hit count on my website. It won't cost anything but a couple minutes, unless you're intrigued, then it could take considerably more time.
http://www.sajewilliams.comI'd really appreciate the boost.
