I just feel this needs to be pointed out. Even parents who supported the war once, or who still support the war, must be hearing all kinds of stuff about the craziness their kids are going through, and they must know that some of it is the result of incompetence at the top. I mean seriously--who, apart from Bush, still thought Rumsfeld was competent when he left? And if you thought that his administration's incompetence was going to get YOUR child killed, would it not be hard for you to look at Bush without wanting to punch him?
From my POV the Webb/Bush "story" is just another example that proves my theory about the media reaction to things like this: Democrats get attacked whenever they stand up for themselves against Republicans, not because it is "boorish" or "in bad taste" or "inappropriate" or apologyworthy but because it might actually make people like the party *better*--and we know the mainstream media can't be having any of THAT.
And of course the reason this tactic works against Democrats is that we fall for it, because our political culture teaches us to err on the side of apology when someone claims to have been offended by something we did. But you know what, kids, when that someone is George W. Bush, then forget it. If every human being on the planet offended him every second of every day from now till doomsday it would not make up for the offenses he has wrought against humanity, human life, and all of us.
