What a F**in MORAN

Already Too Busy for Civility
By George F. Will
Thursday, November 30, 2006; Page A23

That was certainly swift. Washington has a way of quickly acculturating people, especially those who are most susceptible to derangement by the derivative dignity of office. But Jim Webb, Democratic senator-elect from Virginia, has become a pompous poseur and an abuser of the English language before actually becoming a senator.

Wednesday's Post reported that at a White House reception for newly elected members of Congress, Webb "tried to avoid President Bush," refusing to pass through the reception line or have his picture taken with the president. When Bush asked Webb, whose son is a Marine in Iraq, "How's your boy?" Webb replied, "I'd like to get them out of Iraq." When the president again asked "How's your boy?" Webb replied, "That's between me and my boy." Webb told The Post:

"I'm not particularly interested in having a picture of me and George W. Bush on my wall. No offense to the institution of the presidency, and I'm certainly looking forward to working with him and his administration. leaders do some symbolic things to try to convey who they are and what the message is."

Webb certainly has conveyed what he is: a boor. Never mind the patent disrespect for the presidency. Webb's more gross offense was calculated rudeness toward another human being -- one who, disregarding many hard things Webb had said about him during the campaign, asked a civil and caring question, as one parent to another. When -- if ever -- Webb grows weary of admiring his new grandeur as a "leader" who carefully calibrates the "symbolic things" he does to convey messages, he might consider this: In a republic, people decline to be led by leaders who are insufferably full of themselves.

Will- You F**inkg loser- Bush clearly could not care less about Webb's son, and only an ASSHAT MotherF***er like yourself would even try to spin it that way. Why don't you go peddle your slop over at Free Republic?

3. So Jim Webb is being "rude" to the arrogant little asshole who
has unnecessarily put his son in grave danger in the hellhole he has created in Iraq? Imagine that! The NERVE of some people! Webb should have kissed George's feet and told him he'd GLADLY sacrifice his son's life to feed that idiot's ego.

4. Here's another one for you Will: I am not interested in having my pic taken
with the lying, cheating, thieving, murdering pretender-to-the-throne either. And furthermore, millions of us don't give a flying whit what your patrician ass says anyway. How'd that service in Viet Nam work out for you? Oh, that's right, you didn't serve...

And talk about a "a pompous poseur," you would know, now wouldn't you?

5. "In a republic, people decline to be led by leaders who are insufferably full of themselves."
Hey George Will;

You mean "insufferably full of themselves" as in someone who, when confronted by a Father of a son on the front lines of the "War on Terror", immediately takes that Father's natural concern for his son's safety as CRITICISM of himself. Bush's response was "That's not what I'm talking about." Those words plainly show that he, Bush, is definitely and insufferably full of himself; only someone so thin-skinned would take Webb's response that way.

Stick to baseball analysis. You're much better at that.

6. Wow, I'd almost think this was satire, "people decline to be led by leaders who are
insufferably full of themselves."

Yes, the very same people who went to the polls Nov. 7 and said that very thing. MKJ

9. Arrogant, pompous ass that needs to be ignored along with Buchanan, Matthews and a host of other
right-wing corporate media whores that assert their own small-minded agenda's. I am always perplexed when people believe that bastards of this sort have anything positive to contribute to making our society a better place to live for the working class. They don't have a hint as to what average Americans have to deal with in surviving in our corporate exploited culture.

15. Uh oh...George Will doesn't like Jim Webb...scarrryyyy!!!!
I bet Senator Webb is shaking in his boots....!!!!

ABout 20 years ago George Will had some credibility as a commentator, not always willing to toe the RW line...

Since he has just become another beltway RW hack who tries to impress folks with his grammatical choices!

He really needs to get his head out of his ass and get away from Washington for a couple years...he has become convinced of his own self-importance...

Talk about a pompous poseur!!!

He uses a lot of good words. Very eloquent, still full of shit mind you, but he sounds quite good while saying it.

19. Webb could have been a bit more gracious, but his kid's in Iraq, he's allowed to...
be emotional about it.

And President Bush - if he had manners, which he doesn't - should have responded with , "I, too, look forward to them all coming home," and walked away.

Five yard penalty to Webb, fifteen and loss of down to Bush.
