Josh Marshall: Grand Ole Docket --->>>
Edited on Tue Jan-31-06 04:49 PM by Stephanie

This is very handy! Thanks Josh! :hi:

The number of individuals reportedly under investigation in the Abramoff and other public corruption scandals is getting pretty large. But this isn't a list of just anyone who's been tagged in a news report. We're being a good deal more strict.

We're including 1) people who have pled guilty to federal corruption or corruption related charges, 2) those who have been indicted for such charges and 3) those who have been identified as unindicted cocospirators in public legal filings. By our count there 21 such people. Certainly more to follow. But 21 so far.

The Grand Ole Docket tracks trial dates, court appearances and sentencing hearings for players in the current array of national political scandals. But not just any crook can make it on the Docket - it only tracks perps who've been named by prosecutors in indictments or plea agreements.

Be sure to check back periodically as the investigations continue.

Jack Abramoff - Pled Guilty - To Be Sentenced March 16th for SunCruz fraud

There are two separate prosecutions against Jack Abramoff.

The first is focused on Abramoff's defrauding of investors in his purchase, along with Adam Kidan, of SunCruz, a fleet of casino boats. That investigation is being handled by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Florida. Abramoff was indicted for his involvement in the SunCruz fraud case August 11th, 2005, pled guilty January 4th, 2006 to two counts (Conspiracy to Defraud the United States and Wire Fraud), and will be sentenced March 16th.

The other relates to bribing public officials and defrauding his Indian clients - it's being led by Justice Department prosecutors and is proceeding in the DC District Court. Jack Abramoff pled guilty January 3rd, 2006 to three counts (Conspiracy to Defraud the United States, Mail Fraud, and Tax Evasion). No future court dates scheduled for that case - he's cooperating.

<TPM has more info on each of these but I'll just list the cases ~S>

Gus Boulis Murder Trio - Indicted - Trial Date To Be Set March 23rd

Seems we have a way to go -

but this way we get a drip drip drip every few weeks -

unless we do not get drip drip drip because the US Media stops actively reporting because it is "old news" that "no one wants to read about - and the story "doesn't have legs"! :-)

:toast:

4. I guess that means his pate is all red and blotchy, too
You'd think that Jack could help out, given the beaverskin he wears on his own dome.

5. Let's not forget Ken Lay & Skilling - Enron trial started this week.
Then, there were the Arthur Anderson cases and other Enron-related prosecutions.

Also, lest we overlook the OPS-AIPAC case, the two AIPAC employees go to trial in April after Larry Franklin pleaded guilty to espionage charges.

More coming . . .
