Remember our helpless rage at the apparent withering of Plamegate
before the midterm election? Before all those new sex scandals popped up we were hoping fore a public Rove roast, or at least an Armitage execution to help our electoral chances. Well, the Plame case is still wending its way through the criminal court system as Armitage's graymail defense slowly comes apart, and there will no doubt be one or more civil cases as well. I think this whole mess is gonna pop up again, but this time with a Democratic Congress it will be playing in an atmosphere laden with all sorts of revelations about other Republican nastiness, and will be just one more dose of ipecac to help purge the public of its taste for conservatism for a long, long time.

As it takes its place in the larger scheme of things in public awareness, the Plame affair may, in fact, be very useful in helping people to understand how the Bushies scuttled honest intelligence operations (e.g. Brewster-Jennings) when those operations got too close to their nefarious activities. That is, when placed in the context of all the other scandals, things that once sounded tinfoily take on an aura of believability.

1. I live for the day that we know more because I believe these cases
will be pivotal to the rise and fall of an agenda - make that agendas.

So far it seems to me that -

Cheney is at the heart of it all.

He seems to have been wheeling and dealing in nuclear trading at the same time he facilitated imperialism. He meddled in the CIA and pushed it further than it wanted to be pushed? He helped Rumsfeld build a counter intelligence agency within the military. He pushed the lawyers to find ways to defend what they wanted to do.

His wheeling and dealing in nuclear trading, if true, ran parallel to the Brewster-Jennings undercover investigations of nuclear trading. Could he allow that?

An article of truth by Joe Wilson plus a botched forgery and some whistleblowing all around - and his partnership with the torture man and and his involvement in spying and data mining on citizens - his patriot act and all the accompanying Constitution abuses - his profit machinery of Halliburton and other commercial and service corporations - all equate down to profit, control, and expansion. The spotlight is on him.

It may turn out that the only thing George gets blamed for is Katrina.

In the end, Brewster-Jennings being shut down and the destruction of a family will be the pivotal points in shining the spotlight on a good part of it - questionable dealings and a lot of killing, torture, profiteering, lies, and stuffed pockets.

I could be wrong. We could all be wrong. He might be innocent. Or found innocent?

the lesbian Cheney daughter--in her novel someone says that people with power don't have to play by the rules. Their power is a free pass to do what they want. They just have to make sure they hang onto the power. I thought at the time that this passage provided a lot of insight into the kitchen-table wisdom of the Cheney family.
